FARK YOU NASCAR!

I'm fining NASCAR the price of tickets to races I won't be attending anymore.

Not anymore, as of a few years ago it all goes to the NASCAR Foundation.

NASCAR announced the fine on Thursday, saying Hamlin's comments violated Section 12-1 of the NASCAR rulebook that includes all actions detrimental to stock car racing.

Good, then suspend the France family.

Bwahahahaha! Good for Denny Hamlin. This could be the best thing to happen to Brian France since he was born.

I don't follow NASCAR one bit, but good for Denny Hamlin. Stupid fines are stupid.

/wonders what would happen to the NFL if players stopped paying some of the more ridiculous fines

NASCAR can't deal with the fact that he's farking right.  So far at least the racing in the new car has sucked.  But, hey, they have a slightly less vague resemblance to stock cars so they have that going for them.

Yeah... NASCAR may need to fine itself after this

I'll wait until I see how Bristol plays out before I pass judgment, but so far the Gen6 has resulted in parades that F1 fans would mock.

It's not complicated. Hamlin doesn't like the new car and said so. He doesn't like it because he's a whiny little biatch.

Instead of just letting it go by the wayside, the morons who run the show completely overreacted and imposed a draconian fine because as big a whiny little biatch as Denny Hamlin is, he can't hold a candle to the inbred 3d generation farkstick running NASCAR.

So....does the car really blow ass? Seems like in NASCAR it shouldn't really matter...at least they're all blowing the same amount of ass.

Actually it is measurably calmer tha last year. We had farkers swearing to god or be damned there would be pools of blood on the asphalt due to the cars being so unsafe at any speed. Man mul;tiples of deaths were forecat..This IS calm for NASCAR doom and gloom early season forecasting

Weird thing is Hamlin has already won over $650k prize money from NSCAR this seasonand is 4th in the points. i wonder how serious he is about killing that golden goose over pride?I Hamlin stupid enough to quit em over it and move to ALMs cars or something? If he is there will surely be a driver thrilled with his rides.

As primarily an F1 fan, I say YES! There was so much more passing in F1 in 2012 than there has been in the last 10 years.

Nothing like a car designed by a committee.

Factory racing nostalgia anyone? Or an unlimited class like hydros? Maybe crazy stuff like rally racing?

Gifted Many Few: It's an ignorant worker that blames his tools.

This proverb has been around a long time, and in the original context it makes sense because the carpenter (or tradesman) was expected to make his own tools and care for them properly. It does not apply when the driver is not allowed to make his own tools, as is the case here.

It would be funny to see the look on Goodell's face if James Harrison told him to go screw after getting another $10,000 fine. But I guess the way you put it, that won't happen.

/one can only dream though
//not a fan of Harrison or the Steelers, but he does seem to get fined for looking at people funny

It most definitely applies here and now. All cars are equal and the crew and drivers are the difference. It's the same shiat every few years. A change comes to the car and a few drivers get all bent out of shape about it. You know who doesn't get upset? Winners.

I'm not sure having the equipment being equally crappy is the right way to go as far as making the racing exciting, though.

/granted, it's been two races, and maybe the crews will get it sorted out and we'll see some good races this season
//at least the G6 doesn't seem to be as prone to swapping ends every time it gets tapped on the right rear

That's kind of the problem, it's not a spec car series. At least not officially.

The fines in the team sports are levied in a manner agreed upon in the CBA.  Despite a couple of efforts, there's no NASCAR Driver's Union.

/contrast that with F1, where EVERYONE has an "association" - drivers, managers, teams, sponsors, you name it

2013-03-08 02:06:06 AM
Fight on, Denny.

2013-03-08 02:42:43 AM
So what he said was the racing isnt as good because they haven't figured out how to make it as good yet, just like it was at the beginning of the last car.

I don't see criticism there.

If the whole story is presented in this article, he has every right to be pissed and offended.  NASCAR should apologize and fine themselves.

2013-03-08 06:22:48 AM
For reference, here's the actual quote that got him fined:

"I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our Gen-5 cars," Hamlin told reporters after the race. "This is more like what the Generation 5 was at the beginning. The teams hadn't figured out how to get the aero balance right.

Right now, you just run single-file and you cannot get around the guy in front of you. You would have placed me in 20th place with 30 [laps] to go, I would have stayed there -- I wouldn't have moved up. It's just one of those things where track position is everything.
 "

I really don't see anything fine-worthy in that statement.

Yeah, I had no idea that NASCAR was so farking sensitive.

You don't suppose they have a tiny penis or something?

Did Kyle get fined for the comments he made after he WON in one of the first COT races?  Which were a lot more disparaging than what Hamlin said....

So much this. The spending caps is also a great idea after watching Ferrari buy title after title for a decade.

No. It most definitely does not apply here. It would only apply where a driver was blaming his car, AND he had freedom to build a better car. That's not the case as you yourself admit.

Why don't they just make all of the cars in the same factory and leave it at that.  They want all of the cars to be like they were in the IROC series anyway.

This is worthy of a fine?

"I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our Gen-5 cars," Hamlin told reporters after the race won by Carl Edwards. "This is more like what the Generation 5 was at the beginning. The teams hadn't figured out how to get the aero balance right.

"Right now, you just run single-file and you cannot get around the guy in front of you. You would have placed me in 20th place with 30 [laps] to go, I would have stayed there -- I wouldn't have moved up. It's just one of those things where track position is everything."

They can make performance enhancements to make the car react differently. Even taking a pound of air out of the left front tire can make a huge difference.

2013-03-08 09:59:08 AM

skylabdown: They are two races into this new car.... everyone needs to relax.

So much this.  Two races, on two entirely different tracks.  Denny has always been a whiny pouter.  Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence.

2013-03-08 10:03:09 AM
It either is or is not against NASCAR policy for drivers to criticize the car-model they are required to drive.

If it is, pay up, you f'ed up.  If it ain't, why is NASCAR saying it is?

My hunch is he loses.  If you don't like racing in a straight line of cars that all look the same, don't race in NASCAR and learn how to turn right.
