guess some people look the same, no matter how long they've been dead

It probably is a better choice than using Craigslist.

Someone supply what a sample Craigslist ad might look like.

They need to stick a Facebook plugin under each photo so you can "Like it" and share it on your wall. They could likely clear an impressive number of homocides from dumbass thugs reposting the photo with "Look at Mad Dogg after Icepick and I shot him, lol".

FOUND : Black male approx 5 feet 11 inches tall, came with jeans, Fubu wear, hoodie, 540 dollars, one gram of white powdery substance and several .22 bullets.

This seems like a great idea to me.

This only impacts *unidentified* bodies.  It's not like you'll be able to go and look at every dead person ever.  There is an implicit 'opt-out', just carry any ID with you, or have any family report you missing/dead.

Cook may never have set foot in the county named for him.  He did, however, convince the feds to move the Illinois border north a bit so that we Illinoisans could have a bit of beach.  And, what the heck, continue the border all of the way west.  This nicked the southern part of 'sconnie which had her most arable land since it was southerly enough to support commodity crops.  Sometimes I drive to around Galena in the springtime, mostly to sniff the sweet, sweet nickings.  We have overcome so many taboos here.  It is odd to travel and find that in most places murder, or even its contemplation is verboten, quaint!  There is morality here, but it has more to do with the equitable division of spoils.

The morgue has a branch office in Lincoln Park.  On clear days they open their shades.  Quite an interesting operation from the sidewalk view.  Morbid, literally, but fascinating nonetheless.

Not sure what the "controversy" would be over due to the graphic images. If they are going to disturb you then why would you look? It's not like they force you to browse the images in order to file your taxes or something. Just don't farming click on the link if it bothers you.

Michigan took northern Wisconsin and Illinois took the south.

What a loser Wisconsin is.  Wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota and Iowa took chunks of Wisconsin as well.

Um, wow.  At first I thought it was just a misplaced space.  "'join my model train room'?"  I thought.  "That's an odd way to put it."  Then I saw the title.  "Joon is not a word...what does that...?  Oh.  'They are my sons'  Ewwwww."  I guess sometimes I'm too naive for the internet.
The rest of it is morbidly funny.

In SOME cases?? WTF?!? What are people supposed to do in the rest of the cases...recognize people by dick-length? Birthmarks? Nipple size? Moles? Scars? Clothing attire? Figure? Skin tone?

Sure. You don't necessarily need a face to identify someone you know very well.

Say for instance you live around there and your brother's been missing for a long time and they list a guy his height, his weight, approximately his age - and with the same tattoo of Sailor Moon getting railed by Scooby Doo - then you don't really need to see his face on the website to know you might want to visit them to claim your brother's body.

You sure about that?

"Yeah, we're related." "I'm sorry." "About his death?" "Also yes."

Just imagine what internet trolls can do with free access to pictures of real dead bodies.  I still think the good outweighs the bad though,

You'd think the corpse with the Stryker hip replacement would be easy to ID. If it has serial numbers on it, can't the ME just contact the maker of said hip and have them look it up? Or would HIPAA get in the way?

2013-03-07 05:09:18 PM
I think they should put a smile on every corpse face, that way they won't looks so bad.  Better than the "O" face.

CSB:
I drove a wrecker for a while and the company I worked for was on a rotation with the various police agencies in the area. When an accident or other situation came up where there wasn't a wrecker company specified, they would call whomever was next on the list. One afternoon, we got a call from the state police and they specifically requested our boom truck. It turns out a person had found a body encased in concrete in a 55 gallon drum in the bayou. The barrel had rotted away and some of the concrete was gone and you could see a leg bone. They needed the boom to pick up the barrel and recover it to the shore.
If you are driving south on I-49 from Shreveport, La, when you get close to the Powhatan exit, start looking on the left, there is a billboard with a picture of the man in the barrels face and a brief description of his age etc and where he was found asking if anyone knows who he is to call the LSP and let them know.

/end CSB
