Well, this has certainly been a fascinating thread of Internet Tough Guys and people who wish to let us know that they do not watch Survivor because it has sharp knees.  Thanks, fellas, I think you're a total badass and more interesting now than I did before.  Really, I swear.

buntz: I auditioned several times to be on Survivor.  But then each season the 'contestants' became less and less 'real people' and more "actors and models and minor celebrities"
I then realized I'll never have a shot and I gave up.

But I enjoyed making some of my videos.

That sounds kind of sour-grapeish.

Yeah, it totally is.  I'm disappointed!

washington-babylon: GranoblasticMan: Hack Patooey: Skraeling: That was some sick piloting of that heli

Helicopter pilots are very smooth, IMHO.

Old video, I know, but one of my favorites.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tzga6qAaBA

Even older, even favoriter

at the 43 second mark he cuts the top out of a weed with the rotor disk. That is TOO DAMN LOW!

Haha, yeah I hadn't noticed that. Gotta have balls of steel to do maneuvers that you know if you sneeze, you're dead.

I've just quadrupled my total time watching survivor or anything related.

jn1512: CSB:

I've never really watched the show before, but this season I am because my friend is on the "Fans" team and he is a super-cool dude.

I've generally been cheering for the favorites, but your friend there is one of the guys on the fans team that I like.  He just seems cool and down to earth, like he'd be fun to hang out with.  I hope he makes it to the merge and finds a better alliance.  I get the feeling that the females on his team are really in control and they're going to turn on him/hang him out to dry.

Warthog: 1.  The show sucks and needs to die already.
2.  That opening shot is cool.
3.  Probst has a reasonably large pair for being willing to step off that helo onto the top of that spire.
4.  The stunt guy who climbed the spire has a larger pair.
5.  The show sucks and needs to die already.

You have it backwards.

The stunt guy is wearing a harness and he's already created an anchor at the top of the spire, so he's about as safe as it's possible to be. The climb itself looks like 500ft or so, so a couple of hours going up at a reasonable pace. He probably just rope soloed the whole thing if he was the only climber there.

Going down is even easier. He has a figure eight on his harness, he'll just be rappelling down in a few stages. Leaving some gear behind is probably not a big deal given their budget.

Standing up there without a harness is a different matter. Most people who aren't climbers freak out when they have to stand on what they consider a small area at height. If you have a sturdy 2' x 2' table in your living room, it wouldn't be a big deal to stand on it. But standing on a 5' wide ledge a few hundred feet up is a different matter.

Hack Patooey: kmaywfec: ChrisDe: Marshall Willenholly: Why did they leave the safety guy on top of the rock at the end and make him climb down?  They must not like him cause otherwise they would have given him a ride down instead.

"I'll wait here in the Range Rover while Jim tries to take the zebra from the hungry lion."

From memory by Johnny Carson: "While Jim swims the crocodile infested river, I'll stay here in the tent and light the Coleman stove."

*GRRRROWL*  [chomp]

Good thing for Jim's family he has Mutual of Omaha insurance.

"Let's join Jim up the river as he wrestles an anaconda"

Even as a kid I thought Jim got the shiatty end of the deal. I always thought "Why doesn't Marlin Perkins go up the farking river?".

/really enjoyed Wild Kingdom

mjbok: mrbach: This video is not available in your country because CBS has failed to grasp that the Internet is global.

No. Survivor is a licensed property and would be a copyright (?) or rights issue airing in other countries.

I don't care why it is not available, I'm just pissed that it is not available. How am I supposed to know what everyone is talking about now? Thanks to all the assholes who don't allow videos to be viewed worldwide.

Wouldn't be me.

Katie Brown and Alex Honnold.  Real climbers, real climbing.

Both of them do a lot of solo climbs IRL, ironically.

Not to take away from Katie Brown because she's a talented, hot piece of ass, but Alex Honnold is the real deal. He's free soloing stuff guys can't even climb free.

I saw an episode of a show called "First Ascent"  a week or two back. Alex Honnold was free soloing "Half-Dome". My palms were still sweating half an hour later. It's farking incredible that people do that stuff.

/climbed a few big trees back when I was 8.

You say you don't care why, but are blaming CBS.  CBS does not own Survivor, nor this content.

I never said that.  He'll need to ramp up his social game though.  The jury has a tendency to vote for the most manipulative bastard on the island; they like a puppet master.
