Are we sure this was Roger saying this, or something that lives in his jowls?

"Obama's the one who never worked a day in his life. He never earned a penny that wasn't public money. How many fund-raisers does he attend every week? How often does he play basketball and golf? I wish I had that kind of time. He's lazy, but the media won't report that."

They really pushed the race angel, and I don't think it was warranted.  The guy's clearly saying it for political reasons.
He could be saying stupid, racist things off the clock, but on the clock he's going to stick to stupid, political things.

Only an idiot would say that being President of the United States isn't work.

Oh, wait, it's Roger Ailes. You can always count on him to say something stupid, and once again he hasn't let us down.

Does the fact that it is a factually incorrect statement count for anything?

I didn't realize that not working was the secret to being elected President...twice.

G.W. Bush played golf while he doubled the U.S. national debt, during a time of economic prosperity.
Then his buddies collapsed the economy and Obama has been rebuilding it since.

Sadly that's a reasonably accurate description of most politicians (at least on a national or high state level) from both sides of the aisle these days.  Most of them haven't wanted to be anything but a political figure for most of their adult lives & any 'jobs' they do hold tend to be taken with how it will affect their future electability as one of the prime considerations.  Yes it's a VERY broad brush but there is a lot of truth there too.  We really need to somehow get back to a system where 90%+ of politicians aren't lawyers.

When was this? Thomas Jefferson was a lawyer. So was Adams. So was Hamilton. And most who weren't were businessmen - i.e. corporate executives.

And lawyers.  Obama was a lawyer for a few years.  I believe that was his only private sector job, and I don't recall how long it was, but he has actually held one.

JFK never did, at least not as an adult, far as I remember, and he was a pretty decent president.

They don't do useful things like Rep. Paul Ryan or other heroic public officials that worked hard in public life.

Jefferson had his hands in everything.  Law, architecture, farming, can't remember what else.  He was only a lawyer for 5 years.  Kinda hard to pigeon-hole that guy into a single career.  He did it all.

Not sure about Adams and Hamilton off the top of my head but most of the early founders, even if they were lawyers, usually had some career they had ventured into.  I could be wrong, though.

Ok, how are politicians nowadays different? Obama was a lawyer for less than 5 years.

I believe Adams was a lawyer through and through. He defended the British soldiers who committed the Boston Massacre. Don't know about Hamilton.

I don't think being a lawyer is the problem - it's the glad handing and "smoke filled rooms" that drive the parties at a local level that create the problem. It poisons the candidate pool all the way to the top. The idea of a meritocracy may actually be more laughable in regards to a political party than it is in the US in general, which is hard to do.

No. It's a way to keep the viewers listening.

'Everyone else is bad. They won't tell you that they're bad but I will. Listen to me and I will tell you the truth. Why wouldn't you want the truth?'

I don't care what your political bent is. Really I don't.

But can anyone honestly say this guy is a good President? That he knows what he's doing? Can he appoint good people to high positions? Build bridges? Compromise? Take a stand? Lead? Help get us out of this mess?

I wish him well. I really do.

I have no hope.
