Is there anything that prick wants to permit us to do aside from reading news from his company to line his pockets? God Almighty, it'll soon be sent down from on high that breathing is bad and we need to minimize it.

Then again, it is New York. Minimizing breathing would go a long way to increasing longevity in that cesspool. Nevertheless, Bloomberg is a know-it-all toolbag who needs to sit down, shut the fark up, count his money, and stay the hell out of everybody's business.

You kids with your fast cars and your Rock 'n' Roll music. This will lead to dancing, I just know it.

Kind of agree.

If I had money I'd invest it in hearing aid manufacturers.

This. I wonder if there will be a class action lawsuit one day. Along with law firms advertising the fact on late night tv.

Sad part is he's right. Now is the time to invest in Miracle Ear. This generation is going to be deaf by the time they hit 30.

This, this, this!

For years I warned my now 25 year old step-son to turn his friggin' headphones down or he would damage his hearing.  I'm almost twice his age and my hearing is far better than his at this point.  He admits I was right but it's still incredibly frustrating to have to repeat myself ad nauseum when trying to have a conversation with him.

Just like the three before it? My son doesn't listen to music anywhere near as loud as I used to (and sometimes still do). Hell, the line "if it's too loud, you're too old" was old when it showed up in Airheads almost 20 years ago. The Who was the loudest band in history 40 years ago.

This farker shouldn't be telling anyone what to do.  Simply warn people of not just the dangers to your hearing, but also the annoying bastard you become when everything has to be repeated to you at least three times because you blew your eardrums out with headphones and earbuds.Yes, I deal with this often.

that's smart because the boomers are losing their hearing.
Which is actually great for me. It means insurance cares about hearing aids now. Batteries are easier to find, people gawk at aids less. It's like the only positive thing the Boomers have ever done.

\How sad that the Boomers greatest contribution is losing their hearing.

Dear concerned parental unit;

Everytime you tell us to turn the music down; it makes you seem like an old person.

Yeah?  Then maybe he should knock off his whole "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" campaign and stop trying to change gun laws in other states.

2013-03-06 07:24:59 PM
The earbuds allow a lot of outside noise in, New York is generally loud, people turn up the volume all the way to compensate. I can hear some people's headphone music clear as day on the subway. It's gotta be doing damage.

The alternative is ear phones that block out the outside noise. But making yourself effectively deaf in New York is dangerous in the more immediate sense.

Anyhoo, ignore the warnings at your own risk and enjoy your tinnitus.

And yes, I realize this whole music thing is different.....just providing one example of why people are tired of his routine.

I'm partially deaf due to years of headphones and gunfire.
Can't hear the wife half the time when I want to, and have an excuse for when I need to go into selective hearing mode with her. So it is all good.

And oh yes, the Who knew how to blow out eardrums.
Glad to "hear" NYC has so few other problems that attention can be focused on stuff like this.

His approval rating is 50%. That's actually pretty good in the landscape of American politics.

DamnYankees: Do you live in New York? If not, why should anyone give a shiat? He's our mayor, not yours.

Because he funds campaigns in other states and he lobbies for things outside of New York City. His actions directly affected at least one election in California, and as head, founder, and funder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (who act to make guns illegal so that they can argue against them) he pushes an agenda far beyond the five boroughs.

That's why anyone should give a shiat. If he's your mayor, tell him to stick to New York City and leave the rest of us the fark alone.

This actually illustrates what the real intent is...

"The program, which will cost roughly $250,000 and be paid for by a grant from the Fund for Public Health,"

If he really wanted to do something about it, he would just pass a law to control it like he did with drinks.  He didn't "Engage in a ad campaign against drinks."  He passed a law.  What the above shows is that this is intended to create a job for somebody and way to spend money on it.  Nothing else.  Government must always always always get bigger.  It never should be allowed to get smaller because the world would end if it did.  It is a microcosm of how the the powerticians in DC think as well.  OMG a 2% cut which is really a reduction in the increase means zombie Apocalypse.
