Why, is there a bill he needs to sign?

drafting legislation that would forbid using public funds to "transport the president to or from a golf course" till tours resume

Do it. Please. You know Obama will just hop on his bike, or run to the course, with the Secret Service doing their best to keep up.

the president should also refrain from using toilet paper and eating food purchased with public funds.

Thank you America, for providing politicians that make every other countries politicians look really good by comparison!  Gohmert's heart is clearly right place (now), but having a hand in the cut of the tour, I'm not sure he gets any moral ground here...

Cool, can we prevent congress from using public funds to pay their salary until they actually do their job?

2013-03-05 08:15:37 PM
Talk about a bluff - we all know Republicans never actually pass any bills.

2013-03-05 08:21:45 PM
I am suprised that the Republicans keep talking about golf and not his basketball playing.

2013-03-05 08:34:42 PM
Obama could be stunting.
I mean, he certainly carries a lot of cash, gets phone calls from women, grinds, goes with no sleep, is good in the hood, everybody knows him, and of course the presidential limo attracts attention when he rolls by, stunting like a young president is supposed to.

Obama should veto the proposal, just to make them rage.

BTW, the Dow closed up at an all time high. I guess those sequestration doomsayers were a incorrecto de minor.

Which means it will stop being referred to as the "Obama sequester."  From now, it will be the "Republican sequester."

Also: it's a bit early to make any conclusions about what effect the sequester will have, doncha think?

Let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet. I'll wait until the actual cuts and furloughs take place before declaring non-disaster victory.

Oddly, the current President is the only one in that lot that has a left swing. Lefties notice these things. He's not the only lefty in that group though, there are three others, we notice that too.

I would like to be done with the dick sucking before any cutting goes on at all.  Brush teeth, wash in sink, clothes on, in car, on highway -- everything -- before actual cuts start.

Only an idiot would think the Dow has anything to do with the economy.  It's a speculation index, nothing more.

Shut up, you anti-free-speech liberal commie fascist.  This is America, bloviating ain't vioblating no rules.  Go be barefoot and pregnant somewhere.  Unless you're a guy, then put on some shoes and get a real job.  Coward.  You're ruining America.  And other English speaking countries too, depending on spelling.

It's funny how sharp a response this provoked.  They were across the board cuts.  Of course good things got killed.  This childish response is no more than I expected, but it's pretty pathetic even by Republican standards.

The market is not our economy. The Dow doesn't relate to job growth or economic growth. The Dow does show the rich getting richer off you, though. So there's that, which is nice.

Untrue.

Many bills are taken up for consideration. They are then unceremoniously filibustered by the Republican minority.

the Dow isn't even a very important or highly regarded indicator anymore but still, in the face of sequester, the market is strong. The collective tea leaves of the soothsayers don't seem terribly worried.

Buy some DIA to take advantage of the Dow surge and stop with the "rich getting rich off you" nonense.

No, no, no!  Four days of sequestration is PLENTY enough to judge what results there will be!  And, the conclusion is: NONE!

Be patient. As of yet, we haven't had federal workers furloughed/laid off, defense contracts slashed and/or eliminated, defense industries laying off personnel in response, food stamps denied to the poor, etc. You will have the satisfaction to see YOUR REPUBLICAN PARTY AT ITS WORST soon enough.

First of all, the left biatched and whined all the time about Bush being on vacation and/or golfing. Second of all, if you would pull your head away from kissing Obama's rear all the time you would know that this is indeed a stunt and the Republican is staging a counter stunt.

If we don't have money for WH tours, then we don't have money to shuttle the president go a golf game. Hey, hey, two can play.

Are you serious? ok, here we go. The best estimate of the effects of the sequester predict a -1.5% in GDP. Would that be good for the economy?
