Not sure it's done Cheadle any favours, but he hung in for a second one...

Let's see if he gets his career back via the comment he made about Oprah's "tig ol' bitties" when discussing an upcoming film.

No, coming off as a spoiled prick because you think you've done a bunch of "important" and "serious" roles is what's ruining your career, Terrence.

The Kanye of acting, it's only a matter of time until they trade careers.

So... 60 grand for each movie, but $6 Million from Iron Man.

Why farking work after Iron Man?  I could live the rest of my life, comfortably, on the after-tax $6 million.  I don't even make close to $60 grand a YEAR, and he gets it for one movie?  What is that, 6 months, tops of working?

Must be nice/rich peoples problems

Decent actor. Bad attitude.

Fun fact: Terrence Howard was the highest paid actor in the cast of 2008's "Iron Man," reportedly earning more money than even star Robert Downey Jr

How the fark did that happen? Though I'm guessing Howard didn't have back end points like Downey did.

I liked hustle and flow...

Your black. He's white. This ain't a black super hero movie.

Movie 43 might have been the nail on the coffin

I feel so bad for him, I'm going to torrent all his movies and seed them until he gets his career back on track.

Don Cheadle is more fun to watch anyway.

It's been a while since I saw Iron Man but I would have sworn that was Cuba Gooding Jr.  I'm frequently wrong about remembering actors' names and faces though.

/remember when Bon Jovi co-starred in Ally McBeal? Yeah, that was awesome. I lost 50 bucks.

Terrence Howard passed on the role of Captain Planet while he was at it.

He has no one to blame but HIMSELF.

RDJ was considered a huge risk at the time the first movie was done, so he was supposedly given the lowest salary of the main cast. I think he got some nice back end points to give him incentive to keep it together.

IIRC, it's because he was cast first and was "hot" at the time, while RDJr hadn't made his third comeback.

Downey had a bum deal for the first Iron Man because of his perceived unreliability (although by this point, he was very much on the comeback).

DIFFICULTY: said bum deal included a cut of the total profits.  Naturally, when Iron Man cleaned house, so did he.

Howard's had a few decent roles, and it's arguable as to who is the better Rhodes (I prefer Cheadle).  But as has been noted, he seems quite content with being a irreverent and inconsiderate asshole instead of doing anything worthy of consideration.

I have assumed anyone getting net points was in for a ride. See: anyone getting points for Star Wars or Harry Potter

Terrence Howard was shiat in that movie.  From the way he dressed and was addressed, I get the idea that he was supposed to be, I dunno, IN THE MILITARY?  But the thing is, nothing about his performance reminded me of that. I didn't need for him to be a hard-as-nails caricature, but it seemed like they stuck him in a uniform and he just read his lines. Is Rhodey like that in the comics as well?  Hell, maybe that WAS an accurate portrayal, but he sure didn't seem like a military guy at all.

You know, I know stars can fall from grace and come back (and fall right down again).

But Jesus Tapdancin' Christ, Cuba Gooding Jr.'s career TANKED after his Oscar win.  Outside of seeing his face on DTV stuff, the only two movies I can remember from him in recent memory are Chill Factor and his bit role in American Gangster.  It's like the man was dropkicked right the hell out of Tinseltown.

He pulled a "Kirstie Alley" when negotiating the sequel and found out he wasn't as important as the lead character. Screwed himself over. Dumbass gets no sympathy.

I think RDJ was smart enough to insist on Gross Points, not the worthless Hollywood accounting Net Points.

That was Downey's comeback. I'm sure back then, a big part of his salary went to insuring him, just in case his addictions resurfaced and delayed or shut down production.

Studios aren't exactly comfortable putting a $150 million movie in the hands of a heroin addict with no strings attached.

He no doubt got back end money, though.

Why pay him $6 million for Iron Man?  What was in before that made him even remotely valuable?  I read his filmography over at IMDB, and nothing really stands out.

I thought he was a better Rhodey than Cheadle, but it's hardly something I lose sleep over.  If he wants to be a self-important dick, let him.

THIS. He was easily the worst part of the 1st movie.

That's always a problem when an actor has a well received performance, and critics start acting like they're the next Brando. Many of them start believing that, but they forget that, after a while, audiences got sick of Brando's self-important schtick, too.

Say what you will about Sean Penn, but he at least knows when it's time to dial it back.

Fun Fact: The first conversation between Stark and Rhodes in Iron Man II is a direct reference to the Howard/Cheadle conflict.

(Senator announces Rhodes, you see his back as he marches into the chamber, Stark rises to greet him.)

Stark: Hey buddy, didn't expect to see you here.

(Rhodes turns, you see it's Cheadle)

Rhodes: Look, it's me, I'm here.  Deal with it, let's move on.

Stark: I just thought..

Rhodes: Drop it.

Just another role that he lost to Don Cheadle.
