Hopefully the bad buy won't spend most of the movie just setting around making robots.

/Seriously, how dumb do you have to be to have a great character actor like Mickey Rourke not interacting with the rest of the cast?

buy = guy

Valacirca: Uchiha_Cycliste: And then there was Thor, the movie.

What?  Aside from the awful, shoehorned love plot that no one was buying, Thor was pretty good.  Better than Captain America anyway.

I really liked Thor.  There were a few hokey moments, but that happens in (comic) movies.  Thor 2 sounds like it's going to be pretty badass too.  Captain America wasn't going to be awesome, but it told a good story, established the character, and fed plenty into the larger Marvel Universe.  Cap 2 is looking to be more interesting with the Winter Soldier storyline and the introduction of some new Marvel characters.  Quite a few scenes in Avengers gave hints as to where he's going personally.  Exciting times!

Wayne 985: Iron Man is just not that great a character. We already have 4 movies with him; it's enough.

Please, make sure to show us enough previews so we can see part of every shot used in the final film. I wouldn't want to see a movie and have there be anything that might surprise me in it.

I think he is a great character as far as comic book characters go but I also think they're going to milk the fark out of all this. I mean they signed that one dude for SIX Hulk movies.

Mickey Rourke phoned it in. Whether that was b/c the writing/directing screwed up by not putting him in the ensemble, or Mickey Rourke was acting like a giant douche (which he is known to do frequently) can't say. But he was a real let-down. I think they went after the hot name w/o doing enough chemistry/pairing together. Also, the character as a whole was kind of weak. But the Hammer Drones looked cool. That fight at the end (before Whiplash) was bad ass.

I disagree, I found Iron man much more re-watchable. I deleted Thor after one viewing. The whole story just seemed so stupidly contrived; also the love story.  But, I suppose we are entitled to our opinions.

MaxxLarge:Long story short: If Downey asks for a contract extension that includes hot-and-cold running hookers and blow in his trailer...Then Disney is gonna suck it up, and start pricing it out.

Snow White is not named that because she lives in northern climes.

So what are the odds that this movie turns out to be somewhere between pretty good and awesome, and they release an absolute garbage heap of a tie-in game to go along with it?

2013-03-05 04:16:37 PM

rocky_howard: Eh, no. More like Iron-Man was his first big movie in years due to his coke addiction and Marvel didn't want to risk paying the guy millions only for him to blow it mid movie. So fun fact, he was the least paid star in Iron-Man 1 and was offered a proceed of the profits. Also, at the time Marvel Studios was banking everything on Iron-Man which they didn't expect to actually go big. when it exploded, Avengers was announced the next day and Downey was set for life due to serendipity :D

Pretty close to the same story with Jack Nicholson and Batman....minus the coke addiction obviously

Slives: Hmm, a whole squad of Ironmen?
Wonder how they will explain it, considering that Tony should be about the only one able to create the suits.

Previous movie, drone software created Tony takes whats left of Hammer Corp and now owns that as well

PsyLord: So the rumored Hulkbuster suit is there.  Well, that's interesting.

I'm glad its not red, because I would have scream "HEY KOOL-AID" when that scene comes up

Trailer was kind of "meh" and was just rehashes of everything we've seen. Until the very end that is, then it became awesome.

Surool: Please, make sure to show us enough previews so we can see part of every shot used in the final film. I wouldn't want to see a movie and have there be anything that might surprise me in it.

Yeah, I hate it when I am forced to watch movie trailers knowing that much of the plot may be revealed in those trailers. If only there were some way to stop that from happening.

The better the movie, the worse the game. The only great movie/great game tandem was Goldeneye.

That would explain why the X-Men Origins - Wolverine was actually fun to play

That's the trouble with movie trailers, it always has been. Unfortunately we live in an age where too much info is available before we can even watch a show/movie and we spoil it for ourselves.

Err...I didn't read all of Uchiha's post but I rate Captain America over Thor and Avengers.
IMHO Captain was a better screenplay, too much reliance on FX eye-candy in the others.

lordaction: They showed his house getting blown up...didn't that already  happen in a previous film?

Only a small portion of it was damaged during the fight between Rhodes and Stark.  Also, I'm a bit surprised that his mansion doesn't have counter measures against a missile strike.  You'd figure that he would have repulsor turrets or something to blast those things out of the air.

You mean like the way I didn't watch the trailer? Why thank you captain obvious! I'm so glad we can all bask in your divine wisdom!

This is the announced third trailer. The director wants another. Do you see how I might be able to comment on this phenomena without having to even click the link? I'll play the final Jeopardy music while you mull over that stumper.

Surool: You mean like the way I didn't watch the trailer?

You should have.  It had a sweet scene involving Air Force one being attacked and Stark coming to the rescue, the Hulk Buster armor from the comics, Rhodes as Iron Patriot, both he and Stark and an army of Iron Man suits facing off against what's probably an army of Mandarin-led soldiers in their own Iron Man suits in what's clearly the climax of the film.

Maybe you're thinking of his New York office that got trashed in The Avengers?

Serial: HideAndGoFarkYourself: What movie is he talking about with RDJ and Val Kilmer in?

Kiss kiss bang bang.

Fantastic flick.  It's also the reason that Shane Black got tapped to direct IM3.  When Favs stepped down RDJ told Marvel to hire Black.

Seconded. Awesome movie.

It needed more Nazis.

But Hydra is more longer lasting, I suppose.

Captain America holds up story-wise better than I thought. But action wise, it had some of the lamest scenes ever shot.

Thor was better than I expected.

I guess I just cared more about Cap's story than Thor's. Though they really should have found a better way to get him frozen.

I was less bothered by the lack of Nazis when I realized that Iron Man started the precedent of having the hero fight a fictionalized version of a real world villain group (Ten Rings instead of al-Qaeda = Hydra instead of Nazis).

Personally I think she's garden variety Hollywood hot most of the time as Pepper, but that scene in Avengers with the Daisy Dukes? Gawwwdammn!

WhippingBoy: CarnySaur: I hope they replace Tony Stark with a teenage version like they did in the comics a while back.  Maybe they could use the kid who played Freddy on iCarly.

Or a woman. Like they did with Watson on Elementary. That always works and shows people how open minded you are.

They could call it "Iron-Man Woman"

Your opinion is automatically invalid because you dislike something Johnny Lee Miller is in.

/Also Lucy Liu is bad-ass enough that I don't care that John Watson apparently had a sex change.

You'd think after releasing his identity to the world and the fact that he keeps his suits in his homes that he'd have countermeasures to repel an air attack.

Self destruct. They go kablooey if they're going to be compromised.
