This animation brought to you by the Williams sound design team.  Williams sound is best sound.

Was anyone else rigging the cable boxes by opening them and turning one or more of the little screws inside until the picture was unscrambled?  Good times.

WTF...I think I got a contact high watching that.

Between awesomeness like this and Reagan's jellybeans the commies never had a chance.  Hooray 80's!

What we'd sometimes be able to do is cover a playing card with tinfoil and slip it through a gap in the side of the box. Now and then you'd get lucky and trip some sort of switch, I guess, which would allow us to watch HBO and such (i.e., the scrambled channels).

Anyone remember "The Bishop of Battle"? Emilio Estevez starred in it. It came out about the same time as this animation. There is some great 80 arcade shots in it.

Enjoy!

I haven't seen that in ages. So much cheesy goodness.

You can tell this is from the 80's because the actors weren't those farked up hybrids that are a mixture of black/asian/latino.  Funny how those people are in every commercial known to man now, they must make them in a George Soros factory.

Screw that (no pun intended), my dad was lucky enough to get a box from some guy at work that descrambled everything available; HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and the other one that went out of business that showed regular movies, as well as stuff even Cinemax would blush at (name escapes me but think it was similar to Showtime's name).  If it happened to be out of "tune" any, there was an adjustment on the top to fine-tune it right back in.

Miss the arcades like shown in that video!!!!

Ran cable into the UHF input on an old B&W TV in my room (1985) and was able to see some partially descrambled boob on the PB channel.  It was AWESOME!

I remember searching all over the interwebs for this---was just a vague childhood memory.  Like "I swear there was this cartoon"....

Learned that little trick by watching the cable TV tech one time.  Amazing what a horny 11 year old geek with glasses can accomplish.

Yes!  Man, i don't know how many times my brother and I ran around with horse shoe magnets imitating that.  Apparently we weren't old enough to get creeped out by it, just thought it was awesome.

I just know some furries are fapping off to this.

My buddy used to sell gizmos you'd install inline with your cable that would "descramble" our local pr0n channel.  They were 60 hz filters.

Our cable "remote" was this foot-long slider box with a cord back to a box at the TV set.  You could take off the slider cover, and put a jumper to any station you wanted.

/ I swear that PCB was built with 1/8" design rules.

The boxes outside had filters inlined into the cable.  I made good money one summer removing them for people.

I spent this money in the arcade.

I find myself singing the mailbox song to myself all the time... but nobody gets it.

btw, one of the animators who worked on Arcade Attack was also the principal animator for "The Great Rock and Roll Swindle"

I dont remember this one, and we were cable with HBO when it was 35 channels, and A guy from the cable company came to your house to sell it to you.

also, our first remote was a push button phone pad looking membrane key pad thing that was attached to the box via a 25 foot long phone cord.

but I noticed that all the city scenes were of London,so I was wondering if this was a UK thing?

And Yes, i remember HBO showing only three movies a night as well, but I do not remember this particular short for some reason.
