Why just the other day as I poured out another bag of cheetohs onto my plate, I realized something. I was staring at what appeared to be random jumbles of tasty yellow cheesed treats when it dawned on me that in reality I was looking at a vast complex structure. The varied widths of each corn piece showed me how uniquely complex structures like neurons could be simplified in their mapping.

Just sounds basically like a mechanical Turk with games as the medium. Same basic idea as Capcha systems and other areas where they take a typical interaction/gateway like that and harness it for whatever purpose. You can set up trials like this yourself through services like Amazon.

Having met limited success when recruiting gamers to play "Spot the neural path", they have since switched gears and opened the project to 4chan and the rest of the internet, inviting them to "spot the big red dick."

That's cool... I'd play a video game if I was paid for it.  I think in your example you just had trouble marketing your product to get a proper applicant pool, but with 4chan and the re-branding, you did great!

Well forgive me for casting a dubious eye your way but there is no way, no way!you could of unlocked the secretes of the Cheeto while still clinging helplessly to your plate like an uneducated newb. It was well known among gaming enthusiasts that the most efficient and advanced method of captive Cheeto ingestion involves leveraging use of the bag itself in a plate like manner.

I have have a hard time believing that you would struggle and sweat with all the effort a plate entails while not knowing the sweet release of no-plate Cheeto consumption.

"One thing that humans are doing as they play this game - they're also teaching the artificial intelligence to become smarter," Seung says. I guess we humans are still good for something.

Precisely why I will not be playing this game.  I am of the brand that sometimes science goes too far, and the obsolescence of humans is already under way enough for me to contribute to it going further.

No worries. It's almost like the behavior is universal to the current human condition though. Tons of people couldn't engage in the psychological, masturbatory grind of *real* games until casual games on handhelds came out.

I'm far from immune to it, I just find it to be sort of interesting from a phenomenological standpoint.

*I sort of hate me for using that word too. I just think it's the right word*

I'm three of those four, and play more games than I'm embarrassed to admit, but I sure as hell won't have some chucklefark holding an "achievement unlocked" sign above my head if I tie the knot.

Different strokes for different folks I guess...
