#1 Not a girl scout
#2 Horrible role model
#3 Like most national non profit fund raisers, the corporate take is incredible.

2013-03-05 09:37:32 AM
Yes, because they were being used on an abortion of a tv show.

2013-03-05 09:37:58 AM
One should hope so.

2013-03-05 09:37:58 AM
Right, like there would be any left over to sell after she and her mama got through.

Can I legally strangle Honey Boo-Boo?

2013-03-05 09:38:09 AM
If she can't sell them on behalf of a friend (per TFA), then there are a lot of parents that should be getting their hands slapped too...

Girl Scouts are a private entity, aren't they?  Why wouldn't they be able to determine the rules by which their product is sold?

I admit it's kind of douchey since she's doing it for a friend, but it's an unfair advantage especially when selling cookies is also a competition against other girls in your troop.

Did they out Honey Boo Boo as gay?

Does first sale doctrine apply to cookies? If Honey Boo Boo wants to buy 1000 boxes from her friend then sell them on facebook why shouldn't she be able to?

Still OK with the Girl Scouts to destroy 13,000 boxes of perfectly good Girl Scout cookies.

2013-03-05 09:50:36 AM
FTA:For instance, this year Breyer's is selling limited-edition Girl Scout Cookie-flavored frozen desserts; in the past, Dreyer's (known in some parts of the country as Edy's) has produced a similar product. Crumbs Bake Shop also made a limited-edition Thin Mints cupcake last month, and Nestlé made limited-edition Girl Scout Crunch cookie bars last summer.

So its ok for them to allow corporate entities to whore their products, but not let "individuals" do it? I dont think honey boo-boo should be able to shill the cookies either, but obviously the cookie companies are all about profit so why the fark should the girl scouts care? They are still going to make their tiny percentage of the take one way or another.
Stop the farking charade, and sell the godamn cookies through chain stores. Give the girl sluts their cut, and be done with it.

I'd be more concerned about her and her family EATING all the cookies...forget selling them!

If, as the article says, the point of selling the cookies is so the girls get entrepreneurial experience than the fact that some girl got her unfortunately famous hillbilly friend to do a celebrity endorsement seems like it hits the mark exactly.

2013-03-05 10:10:59 AM
the real question is "Can they get they get HBB's family to part with a box of cookies in the event she sell them?"

2013-03-05 10:13:01 AM
* Only human children can be girl scouts.
* The scouts have the right to control their image

2013-03-05 10:19:35 AM
I don't think I would trust that fat-assed family with even 1 box of girl scout cookies.

/her mom's neck fat kinda turns me on though....

thorthor: "why the fark should the girl scouts care? "

Because some partnerships are good for business and some do irreparable harm?
You don't want the poster-child for irresponsible parenting associated with your orchestrated campaign of over-consumption.
That sort of thing tends to make people conscious of, and feel guilty about, how poorly they're behaving.  And that ain't great for a cookie business.

/ it'd be like putting a huge cut-out of those super-fatties from Wall-E next to a slurpee machine
// not great for business
/// unless you're trying to sell the healthful-looking drinks in the next cooler over...

Yes.

Next?

(Wondering where all the Fark Armchair Lawyers who were all "a contract is a contract and inviolable" in yesterday's "church fired pregnant office worker" thread are today...)

She should play to her market and sell whole turkey fryers.

It's not stupid subby it's plain sense. She's not a Girl Scout, she's the vile horror Cthulhu!

If that pudgy little twat had any sense, she'd ditch her friend and contract with the two official GS cookie bakeries to produce "Honey Boo-Boo brand" knock-offs of the real ones:

Thick Mints
Waddle-A-Longs
Peanut Butter Fatties
Short-and-Squatbread
Peanut Butter & Lard Sandwiches
etc.

Yes, because allowing her to do that affects their public image. Would you want her as a perceived spokes-person?

America has gotten to the point where 'slut' is such a common insult that people will call the  farking Girl Scouts of America 'girl sluts' because they can't figure out the rules are there to protect girls from predators or embezzlement.

But there's no such thing as sexism! You're just oversensitive! USA! USA! USA!

/Go call a Girl Scout troop 'girl sluts' to their face. Normally I completely agree only men should punch out men and women should punch out women, but in this case, you will completely deserve the beatdown the troop leaders give you.

Tell her congratulations for me. :) Are you going to stay with the same troop? I moved around a bit, so I wasn't with the same troop all the time. Actually ended up a Juliette for a little while...

The GS have made a very bad move here.  Their Susan Komen-like finances are about to become part of a national conversation.  They pay a number of their execs a lot of money.

i still say there is something in the cookies that is addictive.  Wife bought several boxes the other day and i picked up a box of Samoans.  Before I knew it she was looking at me saying "I have to hide them don't I?"  I had eaten the whole damn box and didn't realize it.

/still can't find where she stashed the thin mints.

She was in different troops for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior.  We're hoping to stay with this troop.  My office was awarded a 5 year contract to assist the Air Force so I'm hoping for a little more stability for us all.
