The video wasn't about "a guy sinking the white and then potting an easy red". It was about a computer accurately plotting the path of the balls on the table in real time. It's an amazing advancement, and has the potential to get a lot more people interested in billiards.

Real world application on what virtual pool was doing for years. That would help the novice, but it doesn't take into account how to use english or how to properly block shots.

meh, there are some variables in the felt and the cushion that effect the angles that are probably not taken into account by his algorithm, not to mention english, but it's a nice science project.
