Great show, but it's time has come.

Hasn't it been common knowledge that season eight would be the last one?

Have Lumin and Hannah hook up and you'll get whatever ratings you want.

And throw in Deb.

My vote is for Dex to kill Lumen, and for Deb, Hannah and himself to have dirty incestual sex on top of Lumen's corpse.  I'm not sure I'd have the stomach to watch such a thing, but I really hated Lumen.

pretty much, though there was rumblings late last year about a season 9 since the show gets consistently high ratings.

Good.  One of the main themes of Dexter is his journey toward becoming a emotionally "whole" human being.  When the show started, his believed he didn't have any geniune emotions.  Now he's capable of falling in love (although I couldn't stand Hanna) so from an emotional development standpoint, the character has gone as far as he can be taken. Also the show is beginning to feel tired -there's only so many ways you can show a serial killer killing before it get repetitive.  It's surprising it's lasted this long.

For the best really now that Deb is wise to him I don't see it going very much further. I'm going to bet that Deb kills Dexter at the end.

I see Deb killing dexter and taking his place, because she can see how the justice system can be flawed and dangerous people walk away.

That is, if she recovers from shooting laguerta, which was about 5 seasons overdue.

The whole series is a dream. It will end with him waking up in his mother's pool of blood beside his brother in that shipping container.

eh, I think Dexter getting killed at the end would be rather disappointing and counter to what the series has been about: Dexter becoming normal. That said, I'm not really convinced the show is able to give a satisfying ending either way. I almost do think it needs a 9th season to realistically pull off a satisfying ending, but it's already been kind of dragged out.

Everyone should just kill each other. That would be awesome.

The end of the last season was basically the beginning of the end. Dexter gets to pull a lot of shiat and get away with it but I don't think that this most recent problem is something that will just be swept away by luck. They should just end the story in a dignified way instead of stretching it out, and season 8 being the last season will work fine.

It's never time for a superfluous apostrophe.

I can only see two endings for the show.

Dexter dies, but his 'son' shows hints that he will continue in his footsteps someday.
or
Dexter is sent to prison, where he continues his work from behind bars.

That said, I don't have Showtime and haven't watched the show since the 2nd or 3rd season. I've always wanted to catch up, but can never find the time.

They'll spend most of the season covering Deb's tracks.  Eventually Dexter will take the fall for it and go to prison.

As for Deb, probably too risky for her to carry on Dexter's mantle.  She'll train Harrison the same way their dad trained Dexter.
/ That's what I would do anyhow.  Is Harrison old enough for them to get a good scene of her training him, though?  Without that, they might have Deb take over.

I think they're both dead in the end, or they Dokes themselves and disappear forever, their memories as the final victims of the Bay Harbor Butcher haunting the Miami PD forever.  If the show is, as it appears to be, a metaphorical character arc of hopeless drug/alcohol addiction, those are really the only things I see being a conclusion that the writers would prefer.  I mean, there's no way that Dexter's just going to stop.  It was possible, but now he has gotten Deb, his only possible savior, hooked too.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more appealing watching them fake their own deaths becomes.  I'll put my money on that.  Though I wouldn't be surprised if Hannah waxes Deb.

Okay, that came out wrong....?

The show is like candy or chips at this point. I could watch just about anything the characters do tbh.

As for prison/death, dexter should be capable of bugging out and disappearing from most situations.

==============================================================

Lumen and Hannah need to have an hour-long lesbian sex scene. At the end of the episode, right at Hannah is being brought to orgasm, Lumen slits her throat with a knife.

I could die happy after that.
