No shiat. The best things about the song, guitar and drums, were removed completely. I would like to hear the inverse of this song.

Hahaha the inverse would be Carly singing with those drums. I don't want that. This is epic.

If by "epic" you mean "sucks donkey balls" then yes, you are correct. :)

Fun fact:  Dave "Rave" Ogilvie did the mixing on "Call Me Maybe".

You know..  the guy from Skinny Puppy who has done work with NiN in the past.  Maybe that's why they blend together so well.

That....was......atrocious.

yeah... my mind was blown when i read that today. he even did mixing / engineering work on NIN albums that included "Head Like A Hole". i thought it was bad when he did that Motley Crue album in the late '90s.

but then again... "When he isn't working, he can usually be found just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia on a clamming boat he was able to purchase after the success of Call Me Maybe with his family."

so... good for him.

It's objectively terrible, but in an endearing way. It's the sort of thing that nobody should get any enjoyment out of. It's like watching terrible b-horror movies (Frogs, Manos: Hands of Fate, etc), or reading Time Cube, or listening to that minor-to-major shifted version of "Losing My Religion", or even like browsing InfoWars/Well Aware1.

The point is that I enjoyed this. Not because it's good, but because horrible things amuse me.

Even after enabling all scripts there was no audio file on that page for me to play.  But I imagine it was at least as horrible as everyone is saying it was.

Even tough the soundcloud page says it's the work of some English dude, with a rather amusing user name, I could see Trent doing this himself.

Summoner101: Still best Call Me Maybe cover

Yes, yes it is.  I was almost sure of which one that would be before I clicked and I was right.

The music for "Call Me Maybe" is the most generic music I have ever heard.

I'm genuinely impressed.

//Has anyone heard the Nancy Sinatra/NIN mix?
///Just go get the entire "With Boots" mix album.

Wow, that... was marginally better than the worst thing I've ever heard.  I guess I'll join the camp of people that would rather hear her vocals over NiN's instrumentals.

that fit very well. I'm sure the NIN orig is in a minor key? or is it?

Nah. The generic stuff, in my mind, is what I call Recording Studio Porn. The kind of sound you can only get from a recording studio who's creating it explicitly to aim for the kiddies and a band who's probably been put together by the record producers.

EXAMPLES OF RECORDING STUDIO PORN:
*Miley Cyrus, 'Party In The USA'
*Backstreet Boys, 'Larger Than Life'
*Britney Spears, 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'
*Spice Girls, 'Wannabe'

according to wiki it's in E major

Yea, say what you want about them ruining your favorite songs, that wasn't entire terrible as far as mashups go.

So umm, someone mashed messed up Head Like A Hole and with Call Me Maybe

Suggested Headline fix.

2013-03-05 04:44:16 AM
Also, I was trying to think of a more annoying pop song to find a mash up to. To see what other unholy mashups have been done.

Someone mashed "Friday" by Rebecca Black with "Fark da Police"

Someone mashed up the Beastie Boys' "Sabatoge" with The Macarena and "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls

Now someone needs to mash up something to "Cotton Eyed Joe" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go". Something revered and respected.

Well, there's Titus Jones' Lady Gaga/Rihanna/Pink/Pokemon theme song mashup.

Warning: this is not good music. Not even as a novelty.

Am I the only person that thinks that Johnny Cash F-ed that song up?  I can't stand that cover.  Never really understood the fellating of Johnny Cash that happens all too frequently.

That was one of his best covers, largely because he sounds so worn down and mournful singing it. It works well given the subject matter in the song. The fact that his other songs on American IV have that sound as well is what opens him to criticism. "In My Life" isn't even in my top 40 Beatles songs but his trudging-through-the-muck rendition of it may be one of the worst covers known to man.

A lot of the JC "fellating" comes from people only aware of a small portion of his work or infatuated with his persona over his music. The man was talented, he performed and occasionally wrote some great music and managed to take up a different style late in his life that made some later works memorable. That said, just like anyone as prolific, he made a ton of crap that's generally not acknowledged as such. "Hurt" just isn't a part of that.

I want to find this mash up idiot so I can punch him straight in the kidney repetitively.  This made me all kinds of stabby.

Funny, because my jam band covers both Cash's "Jackson" and "Folsom Prison". I love "Name That Pun".
