Well he's at least as funny as Will Ferrell has ever been in anything he did.

I would say that your comment is just truly farking stupid, but I think it is clearly implied in your words.

BTW, not a green-worthy headline.  Surely someone submitted something superior.

Ford's character in the Adam McKay-directed movie is said to be similar to veteran NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw.

Greatest Generation my ass. Tom Brokaw's a punk!

at least it wasn't the oh-so-hilarious and clever and not-at-all over-played "Electric Boogaloo" punchline.

Has Harrison Ford always had an earing? First time I've seen him with one.

He got it in 1997.

Ahhh fark no. Harrison Ford is comedy box office poison (Hollywood Homicide)

Harrison Ford will do any movie thrown at him now, which is kind of weird because he has to be rolling in dough and has not been in a really good movie in a while. The aforementioned Hollywood Homicide, Cowboys and Aliens (has anyone seen it? I didn't think so).

Hey, I just recently watched "Cowboys and Aliens" and I'm SURE there are worse movies than that.

Can't think of one right off the top of my head, but there's GOTTA be...

He was in the truly awful "Morning Glory," in which he plays an egotistical news anchor who loves 40-year-old scotch and belittling women. It seems he was made for this role

All I can think of when I read the headline is Mark Hamil's awful cameo in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Working Girl, Sabrina and Crystal Skull would like a word.

Crystal Skull was not an intentional comedy.
Sabrina was a flop:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabrina_(1995_film)#Critical_reception
Besides, Sabrina and Working Girl were romantic comedies, not really testing his comedic abilities as a straight comedy would.

Like most comedians, Will Ferrel has a fairly narrow range but he has never been in a vehicle as perfectly suited to his style as Anchorman. It succeeds.

Ford though? I dunno. This is the first casting news I'm not amped about. We'll have to see.

If the director uses him correctly, this could work. But then, I didn't like the first one anyway. Some good one-liners and a funny fight scene, but the filmmakers clearly thought they could coast on the concept and just filled in the rest with tiresome tropes and clichés.

And I actually do like "Hollywood Homicide" because unlike the hit-you-over-the-head spoof of "Anchorman," it's a sly, straight-faced, deadpan satire of buddy-cop action-comedies that replicates the genre's trappings so precisely many (most?) moviegoers mistook it for a genuinely bad buddy-cop action-comedy. It's comedy of the absurd without being conspicuously ironic or self-aware. It's often authentically slapdash, shallow and hackneyed because its mockery of Hollywood's pre-fabricated blockbuster mentality is meant to sneak up on you.

Well, that escalated quickly...

I can only guess it's a straight-man role, and I think it'll be pretty funny. Although Anchorman 2 as a whole is a terrible idea. Just horrible. If they stick to the "miserable old drunken anchor" like he played well enough in Morning Glory, it'll be fine.

Cowboys and Aliens was good, shoot me I liked it. That first stand off between Daniel Craig and the entitled son was tense awesomeness. I remember seeing it and thinking man that's old school awesome western stuff.

Cowboys and Aliens (has anyone seen it? I didn't think so).

*raises hand* Several times, in fact.

It's amusing to think of the actors as Han Solo, James Bond, Boyd Crowder, Guy Fleegman, and the Kurgan instead of as the actual characters.

So here's the thing about Cowboys & Aliens: You're sitting there watching a pretty decent western movie, and right when it's getting intense...BAM! An alien. Usually, that's when most people say, "Fark this shiat. This is stupid." And they'd be right, except they sat down to watch a movie called Cowboys & Aliens. That movie was pretty much exactly what you should have expected.

Pretty much. I was promised a moving comic book and it delivered. Disposable but fun spectacle. If anything there was slightly more character development then required by the FDA.
