No, I mean, who the fark thinks it's cool to just start planting in public? Unless it's anti-marijuana activity, designed to make legalization look like a bad idea...

Why not plant it?  It's a weed.  You might as well plant it where it can do some good.  Who knows, maybe some Rapeublican kid will get some and learn that it's not a big deal.  It's not like your raping anybody.

eyeq360: Datura is illegal as well.

News to me. It is a very common ornamental garden plant in California. Not worth it as an intoxicant, so I hear.

Sargun: I like how subby leaves out that they aren't going to charge anyone or investigate at all, they're just keeping public land from becoming a pot farm.

Pranksters will be pranksters. Good effort.

Datura is illegal as well.

As well as what? Weed's legal.

No, it's not.   In the State of Washington, there is no law that prohibits possession of less than 1 oz of marijuana.  That doesn't mean that it's legal.

It should be.  It should be commercialized, legal, and responsibly regulated like alcohol or tobacco.

And heavily taxed!  Oh wait.  All the stoners are whining like 6 year olds with skinned knees over the taxation...

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing.  Recreational use of cannabis is legal in Washington State and Colorado.  There was a ballot measure that passed in both states this past November.  It was pretty big news.  I'm surprised you don't know ..

AeAe: Cannabis is an annual. It dies every year unless replanted. It can go feral and reseed itself.

You give it 16 hours of light daily and it will continue to live for as long as you desire.

I'm pretty sure if I planted my vegetable garden in a public park it would be removed too.

Technically, it's not "legal in Washington state" so much as "legal according to the state of Washington". It's still illegal by federal law (although Seattle police don't have the jurisdiction to bust anyone for it). Just saying.

We don't need cheap stunts to make legalisation look like a bad idea.

Are the Feds going to waste their time busting small time users in WA and CO?

Yeah.  Why would the feds go after recreational users in a state where they've legalized that activity?

Elandriel: I am having trouble getting upset about police getting rid of pot plants growing in a public park.  Especially since that's the end of it...they got rid of 'em...and won't be investigating.

Yeah, they probably won't be investigating anything else for a while, either (heh heh.)

They could if they wanted to. Care to take the chance? I'm not saying I agree or anything, but they'll go after whoever they want.

When have the Feds arrested a small time marijuana user on solely marijuana charges? Sure, they can. But with budget cuts and a possible strong public backlash plus no stomach for it in the upper echelons of the Federal government, I'm betting they won't bother.

However, since my employer still bans it, I am not going to partake. I value my job far more than getting high.

Seriously, when has this ever stopped them. Drug enforcement policies are a number one priority for them, no matter how stupid it is, and they sure as hell don't care about public opinion.
