Breitbart I think, so same thing.

I don't believe this WaPo piece.  I just visited the Daily Caller and their front page has nothing about a retraction.  In fact, the only Menendez article found on the front page of DC is about Menendez sponsoring legislation that would help a campaign donor.  If the Daily Caller isn't ready to retract, I'm certainly not going to believe some WaPo cover-up BS about this clearly corrupt partisan lothario.  I'm off to see what Dick Morris has to say about this.

They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100."

So they accuse him not only of utilizing prostitutes but of being a cheap bastard?

That's farked up.

Maybe Menendez paid her to say that she was paid by someone else to make up lies?  His layers of corruption know no bounds!

That's how you know it was Republicans who made up the lies, projection.
Everyone knows liberals end up spending too much on a thing instead of being cheap fiscally conservative.

What this means is that the Democrat THUGS have gotten to these girls and made it QUITE clear what will happen to them and to their families if they don't take back their obviously true stories (obviously true because everybody knows Democrats are bad and have no family values, unlike Republicans who never have sex scandals.)

DISGUSTING.  Demoncrats are DISGUSTING.

2013-03-04 06:40:52 PM
Well, someone is up to some kind of shenanigans.  We'll probably never know the whole truth, but this wouldn't be the first time a sex scandal made Republicans/"conservatives" look bad, even when the "scandal" involves a Democrat.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

2013-03-04 06:45:05 PM
The Daily Caller is still running hit pieces against him today with references to the scandal, although they are way dialed back

http://dailycaller.com/2013/03/04/menendez-bill-could-have-aided-don or s-investment/

Nice little subtle references:

Sen. Robert Menendez sponsored legislation with incentives for natural gas vehicle conversions that would benefit the biggest political donor to his re-election, the same eye doctor whose private jet Menendez used for two personal trips to the Dominican Republic, an Associated Press investigation found.

That right there is why it's false, hookers never negotiate down after services rendered... or so I've heard.

Dead on.  The only thing missing is someone right after your post saying "that is the kind of truth you won't see on the MSM!"

And if he somehow skated out of there without fully paying them, they sure as shiat wouldn't be bailing his ass out now by lying for him.

I think most people know that the Dems arranged the whole thing to make Republicans look bad. We've seen that before, when Obama tricked Republicans into making fools of themselves over his birth certificate. The fact is, Republicans are just too innocent to survive in the dirty world of politics.

It is perhaps the fault of "conservative" media being so damn eager to nail a Democrat that they (again) jumped the gun.  Not that they'll pay any price for it.  Or admit it.  Or be more thorough next time.

Seed's planted. Now, any time Menendez is brought up, well, we'll see all sorts of sleazy, underhanded references to this manufactured scandal, but no direct accusations - those would be actionable, after all.

Menendez just got Dukakis'ed.

Or maybe the Republicans paid the women to lie AND then paid them to retract their statements so the prostitutes could later claim they were threatened by Democrats to recant.

Didn't The Daily Caller/Modern Bow-Tie magazine  just publish something about how conservative journalists shouldn't go off half coked (ahem) all the time?

I just took a trip to the DR a few months ago.  Prostitution is legal there (pimping isn't) and the resort was crawling with girls.  Two quite pretty ones offered me a threeway for $100, so I find the pricing in this story dubious.

That's it exactly. How would a Republican even know where to find a prostitute? The whole thing stinks of a frame up.

The woman identified a lawyer who approached her and a friend to make the videotape, according to affidavits obtained by the Post. That man has in turn identified another lawyer who gave him a script for the tape and paid him to find women to fabricate the claims, the affidavits say.

I see the professional whores outnumbered the prostitutes shown in the video.

So the women swore in an affadavit that their statements were purchased from a lawyer, who says he had a script from another lawyer.  Which means that at least that guy planned to create 'evidence' of false statements that Menendez used hookers.

Since this thing is already out there, the Streisand Effect wouldn't apply.  I say he should sue them all for defamation and slander.  Maybe he gets real lucky and they plea out and flip on their handlers at Breitbart and the Daily Caller.
