I am actually like DD is a standard for supermodels? Seriously? That explains why I can't find a bra that fits. They seem like they are all made for fake boobie people. Size 2 women do not have DD boobies.

Like, RLY. SRSLY. OMG.

Ok so I started googling where I could find these dream bras they speak of in the article. 2 places in GA. A place in Buckhead (of course) and wouldn't ya know it---that Livi Rae's place - the show Double Diva's. Which is now impossible to get an appointment at for obvious reasons. So then I google the bras by manufacturer. Who was that down there in the thread who said "pay handsomely" well the bra on sale was $109. I swear if men had to have testicle holders of some sort. Could you imagine guys. Having to have a little garment for your balls. I am dying laughing now at the vision of tiny bras on balls.

I don't even have a "ledge" and if I wear something other than a crew neck on I'm finding miscellaneous bits of food in my bra.

In case anyone was wondering, a chocolate chip will stain your bra.

I also have long hair and I am clumsy. Eating is frustrating.

/I still do it though

I dated a woman who worked in the bra section of a high-end department store. She had quite the disdain for Victoria's Secret. Apparently it is NOT where you want to go to find a properly-fitting bra.

She was well-endowed herself. But wore the most boring undergarments known to man. Apparently sexy and properly fitting don't go hand-in-hand.

dragonchild: kiwimoogle84: Ladies who wish for bigger boobs- No you don't.

In my experience women don't actually want the bigger boobs; they want the attention that comes from having bigger boobs.

Except every woman I've known with naturally big boobs had a psychological force field that emanated antipathy waves at straight men something fierce because sexual harassment was basically a daily fact of life.  Then there are the unfortunate few that were targeted for sexual assault.  Sure you get attention, but you get a lot of unwanted attention and it doesn't come with any sort of "off" switch.

So, inflatable implants then? Where to place the pump, though...

Damn skippy. My fiancee is average, 34B-C ish, and since she works in a child-oriented dental practice, straps her junk DOWN at work and usually wears a high-collared Underarmor shirt under her scrubs. I still find crumbs in her bras... wtf? It's still nice to get a snack AND boobage at the same time.

kiwimoogle84: dotvincent: KrispyKritter: i'm surprised more women don't visit a Victoria's Secret or bra specialty shop once a year for a measurement fitting to write down their correct size.

If every style from every manufacturer were consistent in every size this wouldn't be a problem.  Hell, I've bought the same style from the same manufacturer in the same season in different colors and found them to fit differently.  Women put up with a lot of not-quite because it's too much of a hassle to find the right fit.

This. I find a style I LOVE, they discontinue it, I have to buy more of something similar, they discontinue it, then I have to find something else close. And of course sizing is a joke. I'm a 38 DD in some brands, 36 D in others. Completely ridiculous. Even my steady basic T-shirt bras from Gap can vary even if I buy two of the same one. And don't get me started on wires digging into sides, spillage out front...

Ladies who wish for bigger boobs- No you don't. You don't have to hold yourself in when you go over a speed bump, or wear three brassieres to go jogging. Plus, gravity. Your chest will look better in 20 years than mine will. Fact of life.

/endrant

You cannot guarantee this.  Many small breasts end up being little skin flaps hanging down the front after nursing whilst the larger ones will sag, but won't be little flaps.

Not to mention the fact that boobies tend to change size at certain times of the month.  Yay.

Good example of badly fitting bra. She's spilling out the sides, it's sitting too low, and the wire is poking in on the insides. It's kinda like they plucked out some random B cup for her. Also, at her cup size, she should probably have thicker shoulder straps.

Holy shiat, this.

Victoria's Secret bras seem to mostly be designed for their models...skinny chicks with fake boobs.  My sister-in-law has big fake boobs and hers are about the same size as my wife's big real boobs.  VS bras fit big fakes, not big reals.

This whole notion that you need a school to teach you how to wear a properly fitting bra is nonsense. If you know how to operate a tape measure, you're good to go. That's half the battle right there. The other half? Figuring out what size your measurements equate to, depending on the bra manufacturer.

Also, couldn't the author of the article find a better example of shelf boob? Christina Hendrickson is so meh...

I have used the tape measure technique. My comment was more in re: to the article. According TFA, they do not use measuring tape, but have another method, including teaching women how a bra should fit. I went to their website and watched a few of their articles. I wish that they did equate everything to a measuring tape, but I imagine that their technique has more to do with getting warm bodies into the store and using the sales method to sell their bras.

Personally, I would love to have a professional pick out a few bras, even if it is a sales routine, but if they FIT and are comfy, then I am all for it. The last time that I was measured, I tried several different styles at Victoria's secret, but none of them were 100% comfy. And most had "shelf" issues. Yes, I went up a cup size, but VS only seems to sell half-cup and demi bras, and being rather "full-busted" I have never been able to wear a demi and not fall out of it.

I went for a proper fitting at a bra store in England in 2010 when I was over visiting my mother-in-law. Came out of there with two bras that made me look and feel 16 again! Over there, they seem reasonably priced, but in Canada, the prices are HORRENDOUS for the over DDD bras.

For you bigger-chested women, I found Natori to be a great brand.  Good support, well-structured, and they don't use so much fabric that I can only wear T-shirts unless I want the cups showing.  I get fitted at Nordstrom, and the women there are great.  I stay in the dressing room and they head out and bring back the bras that I try on.

Exactly.  A 34 should be 34", a 36 should be 36", etc.  Instead, even though I measure 34", I usually have to buy a 38" -- and that's not even accounting for cup sizes.

Thats because apparently super models who measure 30---are wearing DD so you get a 38DD which is really a 32 C. LOL. It is incredibly f'd up.

I admit, the choice between a pair of shoes and a bra is difficult - in case not obvious this is intended to be humor.  A few women I've known have had to have two different sets of clothes because of monthly body changes.

A very general guide that I have had more success with and told the VS ladies so:

1. Get tape measured by salesgirl.
2. Go to bra rack/drawer
3. Pull out bra that is one cup size BIGGER and one strap size SMALLER
4. If nothing in up-size is available, promptly walk out and find a store that does.

/probably need to go up two cup sizes in reality but not much frilly stuff
//it's all rebar and duct tape at that point

I actually recommend push-up bras and I'm a huge sucker for a well-made corset that does what it's supposed to do to the breasts & back (so, not the things you get for cheap at a skank store).  Unless she's hopelessly small, it's enough of a boost to get a girl that much-wanted attention without the cost or permanence of a boob job.

Ironically, though, because I'm a nerd a fair number of busty women I know wear corsets for the boob & back support.  Which makes conversations while maintaining eye contact damn near an exercise in futility; these things are designed to give B-cups a cleavage you can ski down so what they do to DD chests is phenomenal.

I used to buy theirs, mostly because they were pretty durable, but after gaining weight over the last few years I can't any more since they don't carry the size I need. I ended up at Macy's during a sale back in January and got three for about $60, which is like... 1.5 at best at VS. They also actually FIT right which was a first in a long time. Screw VS.

The problem with Victoria's Secret or Fredericks of Hollywood is that they do not cater to the large boobied population. I buy my bras at Lane Bryant. They do a decent job fitting, but it all depends on the style of the bra you are buying. I'm pretty sure the basic t-shirt bra I'm wearing right now is a different size then my strapless bra, but they fit as they should.
