That dude helped me win my FF Superbowl 2 years ago.

/last year, not so much

He'll probably shank his signature

The one farther down the page about the Rams maybe trying to use a tag on Amendola as a TE instead of as a WR to save 6 million a year is hilarious.

No way in hell the league goes for that, but huge props for the creativity of the guy who smoked a ton of weed and came up with the logic behind "wideouts lineup wide, TE's lineup tight or in the slot, see dude it'll totally work"

As an Eagles fan, I always liked Akers- really reliable, cool under pressure.  I was sad to see him go, but it's pretty clear that he had about a year before his expiration date.

Enjoy retirement kickerman

As to the Amendola thing, I think since he was on the roster as a WR all year, and never once as a TE, the Rams would probably have a pretty hard time selling that one.

Related: Anthony Spencer lost about $1.5M because he's franchised as an OLB, not a DE. And Flacco would have lost a similar amount had he been franchised, thanks to rejiggering from Brady and Rapey.

Problem was....we got rid of him 2 years ago. Last year he was a record breaking kicker for efficiency or points and he tied the record for longest kick. He had one bad year; some team takes a flyer on him and he is willing to take less money and they'll have a HOF kicker who can really change some fortunes.

Poor fricking Akers though from a title standpoint. He has lost in 2 SBs and 6 NFC Championship games.

Terrible, subby.  Most of Akers misses this season went wide left.

subby is that a shot at Buffalo?  if so bravo.

Oh yeah.  That guy who tied the world record for longest field goal (even without the benefit of a steel toe or the lack of air at Mile High) and then played the rest of the season injured and still made it to the Super Bowl?
Yeah, screw him.
Sign Lauren Silberman and sell some jerseys.

Not so sure about that- the guy's 38.  I know kickers have a longer life in the NFL but that's still getting up there.  There are probably a few teams who might sign him, but I wouldn't expect amazing things.

Yeah, that does really suck.  Dude deserves a ring- he holds the record for most consecutive FGs in the postseason.

This.

I was rooting for the Niners in the Super Bowl just because I wanted Akers to get a ring.

Hey he made the SB kick when given a re-do after doing his best soccer impression and rolling around on the ground.
