So much for him being the smarter brother.

Right On: If we want to create an immigration policy that's going to work, we can't continue to make illegal immigration an easier path than legal immigration

2013-03-04 02:14:04 PM
Doesn't the (R) after his name pretty much take care of that?

2013-03-04 02:18:09 PM
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said on Monday that his immigration plan will not include a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants

Wait, why does a former Governor who no longer holds any elected office have an immigration plan?

2013-03-04 02:19:42 PM
That is basically the only explanation I have for this.

2013-03-04 02:20:12 PM
Awesome, another dead immigration bill.

propasaurus: Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said on Monday that his immigration plan will not include a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants

He was presumably going to use it to try to get elected, and since he has to win a Republican primary first, he had to toss anything that made sense from the bill.

If it leads to those awesome top hats coming back into style, I'm all for it.

Wait I thought this was the individual upon which had the sucking into the house of he recently and was not able to be found.  Has he done the survival of this?  I will vote for this man as he has shown the ability to defeat even the death the self of it.  He is the Gandalf of the political circlings.

BUSH 2016!

I'd like to think that GWB took care of another Bush ever becoming president again.

I fervently hope that people won't forgive Jeb for colluding to steal the election for his brother back in '00.

But like you, I've lived in the real world to long to believe in fairy tales.

My brain seized trying to understand that.  Well played

So will concentrating the illegal immigrants into camps be his final solution for the 10 million illegal immigrants?
If the plan doesn't provide a solution for the people already here then the proposals is unworkable.

So uh...does the GOP really want another Bush in office?

Skarekrough: Go on.  Put another Bush up for the job.  I farking dare you.

George Bush did nothing wrong. Here is just a small list of all the crap Obama did:

Took more vacation time than any other President

Invaded Iraq to get rid of WMDs which didn't exist

Implemented protectionist steel tariffs

Outed a CIA agent for political purposes

Fired prosecutors who refused to abuse their positions for political purposes

Disregarded FISA laws and wiretappd Americans without warrants

Never caught Osama Bin Laden

Failed to plan for Iraq occupation after Saddam's government fell and the subsequent occupation has killed 150,000 Iraqi civilians.

Created a vague "enemy combatant" status in order to indefinitely hold foreigners and even US citizens without trying or charging them with a crime.

Used torture to interrogate prisoners despite evidence that says information acquired through unreliable

Prematurely said the mission in Iraq had been accomplished.

Approved budgets that outspent our tax revenue by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Poor leadership on response to Hurrican Katrina

Little or no policy changes on our changing climate

Didn't veto a single bill for six years and when he finally did it was to shoot down the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act.

Passed the Military Commissions Act, which removes the right to Habeus Corpus, one of the most fundamental safe guards against tyrannical governments.

Pulled out of the Anti-Ballistic Missle Treaty

Issues illegal "signing statements" when passing bills, saying which portions of the bill he will or won't enforce.? This essentially allows him to rewrite legislation.

Pushed for elections in Palestine that lead to a Hamas victory, and then tried to overthrow them.

Allowed Don Rumsfeld to outsource much of the Iraq war to security contractors which are not subject to Iraqi or American military laws or standards.

Tried to appoint his personal attorney, Harriet Myers, to the supreme court.

Dangerous diplomatic philosophy that discourages peaceful negotiations with certain nations.

Appointed John Bolton, a man who said "there is no such thing as the United Nations", as the UN Ambassador.

Consistent intellectual disinterest in his job.

Failed to act on warning signs of the September, 11th attacks.

Was dishonest with the American people about his National Guard service.

Lied about giving up golf in a time of war.

Dissolving the Iraqi army right after the war, putting thousands of trained soldiers into the insurgency.

Believing Paul Wolfowitz that the war and subsequent reconstruction would pay for itself with Iraqi oil revenue.

His policies contributed to a quadrupling of the price of oil.

Lied to the American people that Saddam Hussein was working with Al-Qaeda

1,000,000 more...

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said on Monday that his immigration plan will not include a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, backing off his previous support for a policy that pro-reform activists consider a centerpiece of comprehensive reform.

OK, so a has-been with no elected position anymore, shackled to a dynastic name that no one on either side will touch with a 12 foot pole any longer, decided to write a book that no one will buy, urging a position that no one will support on a bill that he has no way to get heard by Congress.

Gosh, I'm glad there's an article to tell us about this.

I, some dumb schlub on fark has an immigration plan.  I do not know why it is impossible for people to develop plans to argue from.

Mine involves designating the border area as a sanctioned toxic waste dump, anyone that is found non documented will be catipulted over the border, and we institute a points system (stolen from the canada)for expanded legal immigration.  I do waffle on the internet rented/controled gun platforms that would dot the border though.

McCain hates W., he also hates Romney (according to the 2008 primary), and Romney certainly didn't want the toxic W. around his campaign in 2012 (neither did McCain). That's some fine unity the GOP has in their past three candidates...

If he repeatedly kicked his brother on national tv might make the public willing to vote for him. He should give it a try.

As we have seen in recent years, this is a surefire path to success.  Also, having the famous last name "Bush" should be a great asset in his run for office.

Come for this.  Didn't take long, thanks.

What the actual fark? Does he think we're letting another Bush near the big chair before 2024?  I'd say never, but I know better than that.  He should go punch his brother for screwing him out of his chance.  In fact, that would IMPROVE his chances, if it were recorded and broadcast.

I think it's a bit silly to be against him just because of his brother. Personally, I think what's working against him is mostly stupid shiat like his immigration policy along with him being politically irrelevant for nearly a decade; though the familial ties certainly don't help, either.

He's definitely running. Clinton/Bush election is in play.

2013-03-04 05:59:30 PM
They're already preparing for the return of [a] Bush. They're contrasting Obama and Bush (the younger) with a "great divider" versus Bush's "great uniter" line.

I suspect that by 2016 G. W. Bush will once again be (at least cautiously) celebrated by the GOP.

Which we could do with a rational guest worker program.  Since we haven't had one for the past 40 years or so, we need to do something about those people already here. Giving them a path to citizenship today doesn't mean you have to do it again in the future.

Oh,and remember that our wonderful policy makes it easy for Cubans to arrive here illegally and, instantly, have a green card.  Nobody else, just Cubans.  If Cuba really wanted to fark with .us, they'd grant citizenship to any Mexican, Guatemalan, Honduran, etc who wanted it and then let them come to the US.

I agree we need a rational guest worker program, we don't need another copy of Reagan's 1986 amnesty(you know, the one that fixed the problem.

they're already kind of close to that point anyway. That said, though it may seem counter-intuitive, I don't think they would embrace GWB if Jeb was running/their nominee as I think bringing up Jeb's relationship to W would be a hgue albatross around his neck. I can see them bringing up W more if the nominee isn't Jeb as the comparison wouldn't carry quite as much baggage.

that said, I think their embrace of W is all relative to their current denial of his existence and I don't really see them really embracing him so much as trying to pin him on the Democrats.

Not really, because it is not true about the SW.  Geronimo and Cochise (Apache) along with the Pima and Mohave controlled southern AZ, NM and a good chunk of western TX.  They all hated Hispanics and killed them on the spot every chance they got.  They, Apache, Pima and Mohave, kicked the crap out of any Hispanic that dare step in their territory for over 300 years.  It wasn't until they had to fight on two fronts Mexicans and Union Troops that the Hispanics infiltrated the SW.  The whites were infiltrating at the exact same time.

Why do they want more people?  They don't take care of the ones we have already.  There are homeless and jobless people throughout the country.
