NewsMax is quite the matchmaker. It's just adorable the way they keep trying to fix Howard Dean up.

2003-12-18 11:09:28 PM
Yeah, we'll have to wait and hear it from Drudge before we can take it as fact.

2003-12-19 12:43:46 AM
anybody ready for a big cookout?

let me just note that by "Howard Dean picks", we mean "Michael Reagan assumes Howard Dean will pick"

and "calculations"?? that's a fancy way of saying 'we found that 1970 + 35 = 2005'. You don't need a calculator for that

hehehe

Well, if I read it at NewsMax, it MUST be true.

Better cross-reference this with World Net Daily, Free Republic, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, so we can get all exciting details!

Not Funny

Hey poster:

You obviously can't understand the different between some half-wit columnist's OPINION of whom Dean will chose, and Dean's actual selection. Here's another newsflash for you, moron - NO DEM CANDIDATE IS PICKING A VICE PRESIDENT NOW. The first primary is still over a month away.

But these thoughts are just way too complex for you. Please go back to braiding your chest hair or slapping your momma's ass or whatever else it is you do to stop the normal function of your brain.

Seems the only ones here who are es are the submitter and Michael Reagan.

2003-12-19 01:48:45 AM
I'm going to report this as fact on my radio program.

NewsMax quoting Michael Reagan. Jeez, outside of Baghdad Bob, I can't think of a much more reliable and unimpeachable source than that--particularly concerning the ins and outs of Democratic Party politics.

2003-12-19 03:47:51 AM
When it comes to losing the next election, Dean is a can't-lose kinda guy.

2003-12-19 03:49:21 AM
vaporlock: Oh yeah? Well, when it comes to WINNING the next election, he's a can't-WIN kinda guy.
Wait a minute...

Howard Dean is so going to win this next election. I can hardly contain myself.

Howard Dean is so going to win this next election. I can hardly contain myself

wait wiat.. I want to be like all the babies during the last 4 years.. **ahem** If Howard Dean wins.. I am moving to Canada!!!!

and in the unlikely chance he does win.. I will make sure to say I am moving to Canada everytime he or his administration does/says something for the next 4 years.. but never get off my ass and do anything about.

2003-12-19 04:22:03 AM
Hmmm... I seem to be interpreting the tag/headline combo differently: Isn't "Dumbass" referring to the "Conservative [columnist who] thinks that Howard Dean wants a running mate who can't legally be vice president until May 2005"? Makes more sense, context-wise...

2003-12-19 04:23:55 AM
I think it's important to be flexible on parts of the constitution that clearly are not flexible. For instance,

The congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes,...

Lets just ignore that and decide they get 5% of everyones income, and that's it.

Christ look at this thread... just look at it! Don't any of you know how to properly start a political flame war? I know it's late, but come on. Here, let me provide a little spark-

Ahem

Dean will probably choose Clark as his running mate for 2004. At this point the Dems want to lock in a victory and choosing Clark is the smart money. That way, not only will we get to see Dean crush Dubya in a debate or two but we can enjoy Clark shredding Dick "Halliburton still pays me" Cheney in a debate or two as well. God you Republicans are idiots for buying into the crap this administration feeds you. Thanks for starting a war for no apparent reason. You are all responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iraqis. War was never the only option. But you believe whatever comes out of Dubya's pie hole, don't you?

There- see how it's done? Carry on...

Dream on sonnyboy11 Bush is going to win in a land slide

2003-12-19 05:48:51 AM
"...Dean is desperate to win the black vote in the South..."

WTF is this author smoking? Does he really think that Dean is worried about GWB carrying the black vote? That would be a first for the Repubicans, to say the least.

2003-12-19 06:13:09 AM
Bush is a loser, Dean is a nitwit, lets change the constitution and allow... Hell let's burn it and cede to Putin. He's a real leader.

NewsMax: We've got nearly as many pop-unders as Drudge!!!

2003-12-19 06:31:32 AM
Something bothered me about this so I checked the Constitution. The age limitations apply to the President (35 minimum), Senators (30) and Representatives (25).

On the question of minimum age for the Veep, the Constitution is silent. Absent another law, presumably Dean could select a newborn as a running mate. [grin]

Begs the question of whether such an "underage" Veep could succeed the President in the event of his or her incapacity.

2003-12-19 06:32:21 AM
It doesn't matter what Dem runs against Bush, Bush is still going to win.

2003-12-19 06:32:28 AM
I never thought I would need proof that Michael Reagan was an idiot drone, but this is teh sweet!

2003-12-19 06:38:46 AM
I clicked another link on the site to "tell me the truth about Howard Dean." It's an ad for their magazine, but listen to these pitches:

* Why Vermont gun owners adore Dean, and why Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence thinks he's worse than President Bush, and what the National Rifle Association now says about the top rating it gave him.
* ACLU's stunning response to his call for re-evaluation of the importance of some of our specific civil liberties.
* Why leftist Democrats were Dean's harshest critics in Vermont.
* The many things he has in common with President Bush.

What the fark? Why are they comparing him to Bush? I thought they liked Bush. What kinda campaign is this? Don't vote for him in the primary because he'll be just as bad as Bush. I bet we'll hear about how horribly left he is when/if he's chosen in the primaries.

2003-12-19 06:38:59 AM
NewsMax: Making conservatives look too dumb to be dangerous since... oh, whenever; I can't be arsed to look it up.

/Yank using the phrase "can't be arsed" in a sentence

2003-12-19 06:42:20 AM
Like Bush is going to debate.

Unlikely.

2003-12-19 06:45:38 AM
Oh, and I think it's pretty obvious that the poster intended the "dumbass" tag to refer to the columnist, not Dean. What I can't figure out is, if the editors knew enough to insert the note that proves that the whole premise of the article is pointless, why'd they print it at all? Even if you hate Dean like a virus, I can't believe anyone would think he'd tap an obviously legally ineligible running mate.

Dean/Schwarzenegger in 2004!

2003-12-19 06:58:39 AM
Dean is desperate to win the black vote in the South

I hope he's not spending too much time on that. After all, once the Southern states have "scrubbed" their voters lists a la Florida, there will be roughly 8 black people left who can vote.

2003-12-19 07:02:22 AM
I would normally say , but can't because of the leftists penchant for breaking election laws.

Like trying to steal the 2000 presidential election.

And running an illegal New Jersey Senate candidate in 2002.

When you add the fact that if you look vulnerable the democrats send you off in a small plane with a one-way ticket, the only logical conclusion is that anything is possible.

2003-12-19 07:04:12 AM
deans gonna tap Clark as his VP. Steamroll into the whitehouse. Hill wants to win on her own ticket

2003-12-19 07:11:12 AM
While I would love to see that (even better to see it reversed) PimpJewce, I'd say that it might not be as likely as you think. Clark as of late seems to be going for the all or nothing when it comes to this election. Of course, so are all the other canidates.

Warning- this is an opinion, this is just an opinion, if this were a real fact, you'd find it on Newsmax.

/yeah right

MarcWolfe:

Did you even read the article? It even says at the bottom (and confirmed through a seperate site's 12th Ammendment text):

But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

I'm suprised the teenagers aren't whining "I'm old enough to die for my country but I can't legally drink alcohol, or serve as President of the United States? Preposterous! Cheech, pass the bong buddy.. I've got 18 more years before I can serve my country so I might as well enjoy them."

I'm still not sure how the whole VP selection thing works. Is there a date the candidate has to chose his running mate or some procedure? I'll look it up I guess.

Anyway, you guys wanna start a flamewar? Just go to some extreme left-wing or extreme right-wing columnist or writer (there's a bunch) and find some points that you know about and agree with.

For instance you might read Bill O'Reilly talk about how that Bush wants to give the go ahead to let big companies pour more mercury and cyanide into the rivers and streams; you agree, you understand so you post it and talk about how you're proud to have a baby brother with 3 arms and all.

If you're a lefty then maybe democrats.org,
read: tax and spend good - fire bad; you love the idea of collecting big chunks of peoples paychecks to pay for
lot's more free abortions and you run with it.

Me, I don't care so much just yet. It's too early, we've got almost a whole 11 months before the big one. [I am a little burned that Bush and his buddies made a big, big song and dance in front of the whole world about WMD and we found less than Bubcass. My friends that I chat with overseas don't let me forget about it.]

Here's some republican guy that seems sort of even-handed. read if you want.

Man, that's a wonderful little tin-foil hat theory you have there.

MarcWolfe:
It used to be that the President did not select a running mate at all. Instead, whoever got runner-up in the Presidential election became Vice President. This means -effectively- that the requirements for Vice President are the same as for the President, with the election acting as a screening process.

Even if I was a conservative, I would be embarrassed by NewsMax.

2003-12-19 07:50:12 AM
I'd like to see Hussein/bin Laden 2004.

If you want to deal with the crazy Arabs, you might as well elect people who know something about the subject.

2003-12-19 08:01:58 AM
A Dean/Clark ticket would be unstoppable.

2003-12-19 08:01:59 AM
Newsmax is guilty of doing something that really ticks me off. When anyone who is black and doesn't talk like they are straight ouf the jungle is interviwed, they always say that the person is "well spoken" which is newspeak for "Hey, the black person can speak coherent english!"

I can't wait for the 2004 election, especially if Bush crushes the opposition. I want to hear about all the voter roll scrubbing and all the people who were denied the right to vote. My roomate still thinks there were 100,000 people that couldn't vote legally because they were black and because BET said so. I asked him, like I asked many others about it, to prove the information and he couldn't.

2003-12-19 08:03:52 AM
Tinian: Now THAT was some good trolling. *claps*

2003-12-19 08:06:16 AM
They key part of that headline are the first few words...
Conservatives think that...

Lets look at some other examples:

Conservatives think that Bush is doing a great job.

Conservatives think that starting a war based on lies and then making profit on it is morally sound.

Conservatives think that revealing the name of an American spy is good politics.

Conservatives think that spending record amount of tax dollars while giving tax breaks to the rich is good economics.

Conservatives think that there is nothing wrong with having an Attorney General whose been found guitly of violating the laws he's supposed to enforce (as long as it's a Republican).

Conservatives think that Enron executives are perfectly qualified to be put in charge of America's energy policy.

Conservatives think that spending 45 million tax dollars to investigate a Democratic President's sex life is good. But no crime done by a Republican President, no matter how many people die, is worth investigating.

The list goes on and on.

The neocons will now respond by bashing Clinton. It's the only defense they have, because they can't defend their own President's actions.

2003-12-19 08:12:34 AM
A Dean/Clark ticket would be unstoppable.

And it will take the whole Democratic Party right off the cliff with them.

2003-12-19 08:13:20 AM
"Ford, the popular African-American from the 9th District of Tennessee... is much sought-after by TV producers as a talk show guest because he is so well spoken...."

Leave it to NewsMax to dust off this racist gem.

2003-12-19 08:18:32 AM
Yeah this guy knows all right. The one candidate with the most attention upon him for attacking the fascism that conservatives call democracy secretly has advised a right-wing hack of his plans for a running mate. No wonder the Dems don't like him eh?

2003-12-19 08:19:00 AM
Did you know you can't have a president and vice president from the same state? Bush and Cheney are from Texas. To circumvent the law Cheney moved. Just thought I'd bring up that legal tangent.

2003-12-19 08:22:01 AM
I always like to see a large spectrum of viewpoints, but I really think these people should be forced to take the word "news" out of their title. Maybe "WildSpeculationByPiecingTogetherObscureSourcesMax" would work better.

Cheney is from Wyoming.

You know, with all the right-wing screaming that "Howard Dean is not electable!", one has to wonder why they're bothering to get so upset. They're obviously running scared. So the biatching and screaming from the right is a good thing. It shows Dean is going down the right path to kick the squatter out of the White House next November.
