Desquamation: 5 Hour's agency made their ads look cheap and shiatty so everyone would talk about how cheap and shiatty they looked, in turn talking about 5 Hour Energy. It's actually not a bad idea...

You know what they should do? They should rename  MSN Search
 Windows Live Search
Live Search
MS Dewey

Bing.

All they need is a little marketing. Then everyone will use Hotmail
MSN Hotmail
Windows Live Hotmail
Live
Outlook.com

Office 365.

The freakiest thing from this week is when I checked an address in Google Maps on my computer to make sure I had the right zip code, my phone buzzed a moment later warning me that if I wanted to drive there right now I would have to sit through six minutes of heavy traffic.

Some days I feel like if I even tried to use Bing, I would find my phone standing outside my window one day with a boombox.

syberpud: Mikey1969: downstairs: Because they do scan your emails to simply give you targeted advertising.  GMail isn't selling your mom's "hello, how are you doing" email to the FBI.

And very low-key targeted ads at that. No banners, no flashing bullshiat, just a text ad off to the side.

As for the ad campaign, I saw one of these "Scroogled" ads last night, and I kept expecting ti to be some low budget email plugin. I couldn't believe M$ would commission such a crappy commercial.

I'm surprised too - at first I assumed the "Scroogled" ads were by some scam artist look to cash in on people's paranoia and charge for using the same service.

Whichever ad agency that has the MS account ripped off the creative for 5 Hour Energy.

5 Hour's agency made their ads look cheap and shiatty so everyone would talk about how cheap and shiatty they looked, in turn talking about 5 Hour Energy. It's actually not a bad idea...

I assume MS's agency thought they could do the same.

PainInTheASP: They had another ad campaign?  I hadn't noticed, I'm too preoccupied with the clackety-clack rhythm that has been IN MY HEAD SINCE GODDAMN CHRISTMAS!

/I saw the scroogled commercial, and wondered how billion-dollar companies can have such amateur-looking ads
