realmolo: What is it with teenage girls obsessing over singers?  I'm sure there are some teenage boys that get obsessed, too, but it seems to be primarily a girl thing.

I think it's because statistically, girls don't "learn" to masturbate effectively until they are older. 13-year-old boys can watch a Katy Perry video, rub one out, and get on with their lives. But 13-year-old girls just get more and more frustrated. It's sad, really.

Have you seen studies on this or were you just using 'statistically' to emphasize your speculation?

Female sexuality is very different from male sexuality. While men are more visual and like to wank to pictures and fantasize mostly about the sexy, women tend to fantasize about the relationship around the sexy. Hence obsessive Beiber fans and shiatty vampire romance novels. (source: A Billion Wicked Thoughts)

TomD9938: Mikey1969: sometimes I feel sorry for the guy...

Yeah, me too.  Seems like kind of lonely existence.

Reminds me of John Lennon describing how he felt sorry for Elvis having to go through all the crazy by himself and not having band-mates of similar fame to bounce things off of and share the load.

Yeah, there's definitely something to say for being in a band as opposed to a solo act...

LOL< I have Abbey Road playing, I clicked on her video, and forgot to stop my music. I thought "I want you so bad" was the song they had edited into that video, it totally fit. Hell, I only figured it out when I closed the tab and the music was still playing.

Kellner21: Funny how most people assume it is the preteen/teenage Bieber fans that are doing the threats. I have seen quite a few 30 and 40 year old women that would definitely do something like this.

I know, it's insane, I was visditing a friend in Millington, Tn a few years ago, we were going to drive into Memphis for some BBQ ribs but the roads were packed with women in their 30s and 40s waving these "we love you Justin" signs, at the time I had no Idea who he was and when I finally saw a concert poster for his show I couldn't believe how young he was considering the age of the women we saw cheering for him, if it had been men that age cheering for a girl his age, the Chris Hanson brigade woulda had a field day.....

Of course, being a "Belieber", when she does do something noteworthy, it'll probably be trying to break into his hotel room armed with a kitchen knife.

I can see this happening to Justin Bieber if it ever gets out (at the time it is happening) that he is actually attracted enough to a lady that he invites her up to his hotel room for a bit of the old rumpy pumpy.

Any girl who made a death threat, cops should go to their houses with lights and sirens, arrest them and throw them into juvie lockup for a few days. File charges, bench appearance, the whole nine yards.  Maybe that will teach those little twats a lesson.

I think that explains the backlash from the Bieber fans. Their fantasy is to have their idol suddenly notice them and bless them with attention (same fantasy in Twilight and 50 Shades). Even though it's just a retweet, they had to sit there and watch their fantasy happen to someone who wasn't even a fan.

To frame it for a 13-year-old male perspective, it would be like finding out that the hot English teacher I had a crush on showed her boobs to my best friend, who didn't even like her.

Nail, head, etc. Multiplied by the "I'm a teenage girl and need to be noticed anyway" phenomenon. That age-group already has a dire need to be noticed, and now they've spent their whole lives being told 'O yes, you are so special and noteworthy and here's your trophy because you're here!" and they can't figure out why they can't have their very own Justin Bieber to sit on the shelf with the rest of that worthless dross.

Teenage girls need to be noticed because they are insecure. Noticing them alleviates the insecurity. They are insecure because a lot is happening to them - they cannot rely on trusted mechanisms to deal with their body or their surroundings anymore. Cut them some slack.

This one kinda gives me the creeps. She isn't saying, "I wish you would notice me," not "you didn't notice me," it's "You won't notice me." It implies that not noticing her is a continued failure of action on Bieber's part. That this guy has had multiple and sustained opportunities to notice her and that she is genuinely hurt that he hasn't so far.
