Imagine the same compound, but the chimps have guns and you've to the  "Citadel."

"hundreds of chimps in large groups"

Luckily most of those chimps appeared to be old females. At already existing chimp reserves they have learned that you can't have group sizes above around 10 or else bloody deadly fights break out. Those reserves often use water with each small chimp group getting its own island. (Chimps sink if they try to swim though they have been known to hijack boats if researchers foolishly don't guard them)

I would hate to see what would happen in a group of 100 chimps with 40 of them being prime males.

It's a bigger cage, made of concrete, but there are still humans staring at your every move, so it's like moving from supermax to a white-collar jail.

That's awesome and sad at the same time

While I think this is awesome, I couldn't help but noticing this in the article:

"...  they can resume a life that more closely resembles the one originally intended for them. "

Intended by whom?

Intended by whom?

I'm gonna go with either Tarzan or Baby Jesus.

Yes, we all know how chimps love pine trees.

My Lady said I should send them an application, but I'm not sure if she meant as an employee or as one of the inmates.

All fine and dandy until one of the big ones bites off your genitalia or face.

I feel kicked in the stomach thinking that these intelligent creatures were sitting in little cages for upwards of 50 years. It's sick. I personally joke that PETA means "people eating tasty animals" and am not an animal rights kook by any means, but this level of cruelty in unconscionable.

Chimps give me both the heebies and the jeebies. Look at those hideous deformed feet.

*shudder

Either we use animals for testing, or we use people. And, based upon how farked our government is right now, there are a few names I'd like to see nominated to the list.

So they'll be replacing the lab monkeys with actual human test subjects, right?  Because how else are the scientists supposed to test things before they're approved for general use?

Good, you have been paying attention. There is a reason it's called "practicing."

Still primates.  Just not chimps or other apes.

Yeah, I felt dirty for being human after watching that.

Well, hell, why not test on humans?  There's a lot more of them around than chimps.

I wouldn't have thought that was too obscure for this crowd.....
