pieterh: Third floor means he fell two stories, which is maybe six yards. It's a lot but for a small child, less traumatic than you might think, especially if the ground was even slightly shock absorbent.

That's where the term "bouncing baby boy" comes from. They're resilient. And slightly rubber-ish.
