Here's some unsolicited advice for people looking to do what this article states, in suburban NJ or suburban anywhere:

Don't buy the house, buy into the town.

Yes you can afford a nicer house in a lesser town, but you will regret it.  Buy into the towns with the best schools and a vibrant downtown.  Stay out of "bedroom communities".  They are a slow death.

Believe it or not, you can have a somewhat urbane life in the NJ suburbs if you choose well.

Those people are way too rich to be hipsters. He's just a douche who thinks elbow patches are cool.
