Hanky: I would hate to see it, but a really great property for FB to purchase (if it could) would be Fark.
digistil: Hanky: I would hate to see it, but a really great property for FB to purchase (if it could) would be Fark. The one great thing would be a sudden lack of trolls, as FB would likely require a FB account for login (which are publicly linked).
djscram: The "Facebook-is-about-to-die" worshipers have become nearly as mainstream as the cult of "email is about to die."
ZeroCorpse: It's a simple, oft-repeated cycle:Teens find something, deem it cool, then use it a lot.Parents find thing teens are using, think "If teens use it, it must be cool, so if I use it, it will make ME cool!" then use it a lot.Teens realize old people are using their cool thing. Thing becomes uncool. Teens move on so they can get privacy and not be associated with old people. Thing is considered "ruined" by influx of non-teens.Repeat ad nauseum.
serial_crusher: You overestimate the amount of shame people have (and underestimate how easy it is to create fake Facebook accounts. If you don't believe me, I'll have my friends Shre Dder and Dino Saucer reach out to you...)
Chevello: The parents figured it out, and the kids want to move on for more privacy from them?Go figure.
farkeruk: Online social networks are just like real social networks. Lots of people want to hang with people as cool or cooler than themselves.
DubyaHater: I wish I could be in Zuckerburg's position. Even if Facebook collapsed tomorrow, the man could live a thousand lifetimes with the money he has.
Target Builder: I'd also like to think that kids are wisening up to the fact that what they post online can very easily follow them around forever, but that might be a bit optimistic.
Slaxl: DubyaHater: I wish I could be in Zuckerburg's position. Even if Facebook collapsed tomorrow, the man could live a thousand lifetimes with the money he has.Isn't all his money based on the value of Facebook?
Wrencher: It might help if they could figure out how to produce a functional Android app.
Hack Patooey: You know what would fix Facebook for me? Quit farking around with my feed. Give me easy to find and easy to use tools to let *me* decide what I see in my feed. I have the option of "most recent" which I use, and "top stories" which uses some broken-ass algorithm that pulls old threads based on unknown criteria, and buries new posts so I never see them. FB also insists on changing my setting to "top stories" about every ten days. STOP IT!
YodaBlues: Wrencher: It might help if they could figure out how to produce a functional Android app. It's perfectly functional, as long as the function is to drain your battery because it won't stop polling for GPS coordinates every 15 minutes./Even with Location Services disabled nonetheless.//Guess the Zuck REALLY needs to know where I am at all times.
rogue49: What's the flavor of the day?Week?Month?Year?Decade?and so on...
