In all fairness. AZ is not a "furnace full of drunk Indians". There are places in northern AZ that get quite cold during the fall and winter months. Even narrowing it down to Phoenix being a "furnace full of drunk Indians" you would still be wrong. At most it's a furnace half full of drunk Indians.

Most Indians in TV and movies are depicted as trackers and/or peyote smokers, but point out the fact which led to the stereotype of them enjoying 'firewater', and it's suddenly MORE racist than the other two blanket depictions?

Am I missing something here?

It's ignorant and racist. Pointing out a flaw that's a direct cause of crackers introducing them to alcohol and swindling their land away from them is low class. Alcoholism is ingrained in their DNA as well as depression due to their treatment as a people. Yet in fairness it's akin to a joke about black people being afraid of dogs (dogs were used to hunt down and tear slaves apart). You get the point.

Because they would never have discovered it by themselves? And by the way, when you figure out that you're genetically predisposed to being an alcoholic, then you should adjust your lifestyle accordingly by never touching alcohol. But apparently these things (figuring out alcohol and understanding genetic predisposition to alcoholism) are beyond your people's ability to comprehend, at least if I am to take you literally, and therefore they don't have to be responsible for their lives and everything is the white devil's fault.

I think she meant to say "drunk governor." Jan Brewer isn't exactly known as being a teetotaler.

I watched the episode because I DVR it. The line was offensive but it wasn't far off the mark. Scottsdale (which is what they were talking about in the episode) is one of the most awful, pretentious furnaces on the planet. It's too goddamned hot 9 months of the year and the women all seem to go to the same plastic surgeon and hair salons. They're like pod people. It's also the home of the most $30,000 per year "millionaires" in the country.

You know how much fire Norman Lear would be under if he debuted Archie Bunker today?

I watched it, heard the line, laughed and moved on.  The line is true to the character who said it.

It's sad that we live in an era where you really can't say anything offensive to anyone who isn't male, white or straight.  Make a joke about gays, women, any race not white and someone is offended and wants an apology.

Yes I watch 'Mike and Molly'.  I really enjoyed the first two seasons.  This season has not really been that interesting.  I think it's because now that they are married, the show doesn't know what to do with the characters.  Honestly it makes no sense how Mike could live on his own, but between his income and Molly's income they can't move away from her mother's place.  I know they have to live there to give her family a reason to be on the show, but it's making as much sense as the later years of 'The Cosby Show' where Elvin, a Doctor, couldn't afford to move way from Cliff's house and how Martin, a sailor in the Navy, who was a farking officer, couldn't afford to move away, but Theo, an unemployed college student could move away, graduate and have a job lined up to start and NOT have to move back in with his parents. (ending rant).

Native Americans were the people descended from the proto-Russians that crossed over an ice age landbridge to North America, who lived here before all the Europeans joined the party.

Whats the politically correct terminology for "indian giver" these days?

The other day I caught myself from using the term and as my mind searched for a suitable replacement the closest thing that popped up was referencing jews and gypsies.

Really? Are we still boo-hooing about the injuns like 'their' land was the only land ever conquered in the history of the world? Boo hoo that what's left of them are still drowning their sorrows in firewater? It's been hundred of years. Literally. All but what, 12? people living in the states should be glad we took it, too. Unless you'd fancy going back to England or, god forbid, Africa(cause we all know Africans live like the Kings they all claim to be).

The thing is I don't blame anyone for my problems. American Indians have a victim culture. Don't like your life change it. Also don't get me started on the whole environmental harmony myth either

lighten up, Chief Burger King. the TV show Mike & Molly is what's know as a situation comedy. comedy, jokes, you get it. there are comedians on TV that use every subject known to mankind as the jist of a comedic piece. people laugh and laugh as long as they are picking on the other guy. as an adult you are supposed to man up, grin and bear it when the ha-ha comes your way. don't be a dick.
