I think we're all missing the important part of the story here:

"Sultan isn't the only entrepreneur guilty of blowing a fortune.Andrew Fashion made $2.5 million before age 21 and blew it all by 22 on porn and gambling."

2013-03-03 08:22:15 PM
If I remember, she actually sold it for about 3 million and 67 million in stock options that immediately became worthless.

WoW.

My wife takes oxycodone.  She get's the max daily dose of 6 pills.  That means the street value of her annual dose is around $50,000.

I'm not familiar with the original story but this makes much more sense. After all 3 million is a lot but I can see someone blowing through that in 13 years while 70 million is such a massive pile of cash I couldn't see you spending over 5 million each year for 13 years.

Five times from February through June, she sold pills to an undercover officer, according to her indictment. One sale took place at the Starbucks on Union Square.

Going to Starbucks is by itself a capital offense on Fark.

Or a natural progression. It's like linking Goth Kids to murder. "How did this happen to your son ma'am?" - "Well, he got hooked with this group that had him attend a club that played a song about this deceased actor, all of a sudden he got a gun and started running around, screaming "Undead, Undead, Undead!" and shot up a funeral. Luckily only one person was dead after that shooting"

If I recall it was 5 or 6 million bucks and the 65 million remainder was stock in the purchasing company. The dot com bust made the 65 million disappear pretty quick. I could easily squander 5 million in a year or two.

a past friend worked for a guy in CA who was on his third fortune. when he was a young guy working construction with his Dad in NJ he saw the problems caused by trenches collapsing after they were dug. he invited a simple yet effective device called a Ditch Witch to overcome that problem, which made him his first boatload of money.

And I could live a comfortable life with 5 million.  I'll prove it.  Send me the money and watch how I retire.  Wait.  I'm already kinda retired.  Well, send me the money and I'll figure something out.

I could easily spend 5 million in a year or two, I don't think I could spend 5 million for 13 years straight though. After you buy a new house, car, and upgrade everything you own to something top of the line what else is their to buy? Sure every couple of years you could replace your things but even that ultimately won't cost that much compared to millions of dollars. Plus interest rates on 70 million dollars would be enough to cover most cost. Even with 5 million if you where smart about it you could live off the interest alone.

I never understand how people who hit it big selling a business or with the lottery etc nearly always try to start a business and fail. WHY? You already have millions...you don't need to have a 'business' you've already won...check out time, trade in your camry and apartment for a BMW and a house in the suburbs...

Was this THE Jennifer?  I remember late 90s there was a girl who was apparently something like the first webcam and people were so fascinated just to tune in and watch her.  Nothing pron related or anything.  Just it was so new people would watch her.  She became internationally famous for doing nothing.  Sounds like the same person and she must have created a business and sold it.

yea I read about this in a different article, and it said she actually only had a few million. The 70 number was split between her and her boyfriend, and it was valued in stock, and the stock tanked. So she was buying things as if she had a lot more than 2-3m.

Yeah, you sure this guy isn't talking about some kind of "shoring boxes"? There's a lot of money in that, to keep trenches from falling in. A Ditch Witch makes the trenches that cave in in the first place.

Never brag about something you can look up on the Internet. Even in the middle of the night.
