That thing better stop farking around with the space station or something's gonna get broke!

Obviously dragons mate in space. They need the extreme temp of re-entry to incubate their eggs to make it possible for them to hatch. They do so in mid-air and use their winks to break their fall so they don't splat. The weak don't survive birth.

Hunh, I knew that dragons mated in flight, but not in space. I guess after ending the threat of Thread they decided to try a few new things.

Elegy: Elon Musk must be breathing a big sigh of relief after two close calls in a row.

Elon knows and understands that this is rocket science and that he's very likely to lose several missions before he sets foot on martian soil.

But I'm sure he has a big grin.

Ok, so they're paying $1.6 billion for 12 deliveries.  What would that have cost NASA?  $6 billion?  $8 billion with over-runs?

The space station does have thrusters to boost its orbit or make orbital changes in case some bit of space debris is detected that might get too close, but those are gross maneuvers, not the fine ones you need for mating.

Is this article about NASA or online dating?

Why?

Confusing "berth" with "birth"?

It's perfectly cromulent English...

So privatizing space colonization is good ?  At what point do we have space laws and courts ? Is the constitution valid in space ? Will we need passports, what corporation / government will issue them  ?  Gutting NASA was an intentional 'land grab' by the corporate class, only they grabbed space and unlimited and ungoverned natural resources with it.   The worst fark over in the history of mankind, and we bought it, "to save a few dollars".

Is the constitution valid in space?

Yeah, because inalienable, but you are prohibited from making territorial claims.

It's a nice name but she would spend her entire life explaining how to spell it, and by the time she hit 12 she would have gotten everyone to call her "Danny" or something instead.

I'd rather it be done by corporations than not at all. Besides, corporations and government are nigh-indistinguishable at this point anyway.

I was LEGOLand Florida with my son last year. I didn't hear a parent calling their child Frodo, but I did hear another child saying, "Come here, Legolas!"

I guess the parents liked The Lord of the Rings.

I had a friend named Turin, and his hot sister was named Arwen.  Their dad also had a huge Frank Zappa collection on vinyl.

read some Earthsea books- some can join with the land and make things not happen. I guess it would also work for making things happen.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthsea
