Clown... I think you've done it now.

They seem upset.

Before this thing gets out of hand and escalates quickly I'd like to issue a humble and forthright apology to any clowns who may have been understandably offended by my comparing them to the festering pile of fetid morans and hacks that constitute the readership and writership of Town Hall.

It was unforgivable of me in retrospect and I should never have stooped so low.

Biden has always been a train guy. When he was in the senate he took Amtrak home every night. That was hs thing.

Louisiana_Sitar_Club: could be wrong but it doesn't seem to me that it would be cheaper to button down security on an entire Amtrak train and at least two stations in both directions every weekend than to just fly a military route. In light of that, I'd be careful about throwing around the term "sensible decision".

Your concern is duly noted.

gravy chugging cretin.: machoprogrammer: Somaticasual: Did they ever give the "joe the bird" money to charities? Or did some lucky farker come out like $14k richer?

According to the updates on the Indiegogo site, he should be sending out the t-shirts in the coming days (assuming his date estimates posted are correct).

However, it mentions nothing of the charity money, so I have no idea.

i hate to say it,but,it looks kind of like this guy took your money and said " TAKE IT IN YOUR POOPER."

/i hope i'm wrong

I was not stupid enough to donate money to it. I also thought the idea was incredibly stupid and poorly executed.

Im sure I would love to commute on the same train now, with three less cars available for the plebes.

machoprogrammer:

the organiser of the indiegogo page did pop in last time this was brought up, essentially saying that he would donate the moneys but on his timetable.

There was much wailing about how mean everyone was and essentially that he wouldn't bother returning to fark to let people know of that progress however.

It was all a bit odd to be frank.

My price metric is calibrated for a expensive coastal city so ymmv, but that's about 1.5-2 times what some of my friends make and they're mostly low tier geekniods. Total tax rate on that's going to be kind steep too, probably 30-35%.

So the give joe the bird money is most likely in some guys pocket. Thats pretty rough yet predictable. Can't believe people fell for that.

Cream of Meat, Dragonflew:

I think he actually has every intention of getting the money where it should go but from memory there were a few caveats:
- on his own timetable
- one of the intended charities didn't respond to him so they were dropped and the remaining moneys distributed to the other charities named
- little car etc idea dropped
- as the bank account that the indiegogo money landed in was a personal account, there was probably tax applicable, and that had to be addressed.

posted an announcement 11 days Hi Everyone!
I hope you are continuing to have an awesome week. I just wanted to drop a note saying that we have ordered the t-shirts! I am hoping for them to be shipped to me in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Also, I will warn everyone that I am addressing and shipping these t-shirts and wrist-bands by myself. I will have close to 500 packages to uniquely address and ship and this may take some time. I'm asking that everyone be patient while this happens.
If anyone has any questions regarding this process or would like any more information please shoot me an email (joebidenstransam[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com).
Cheers!

Yep, he spent all the money on hookers, blow, tshirts and who knows what all.

Southern100: ten foiled hats: The explicit message is that Joe missed taking the train. The same train he took for years. Now he gets to take it again.

TFA's interpretation of the "implicit" message is bullsh*t.

Serves me right for clicking that link.

Yeah, he's said a few times he's always wanted to be able to take the train on his weekend trips home, but the SS wouldn't let him. It's only like an hour and a half by train, or something like that? Probably takes him that long to get there by plane too, with taxiing, takeoffs, landings, etc.. *Shrug*

The train probably isn't the safest way to travel for a sitting VP though, especially the way he apparently does it - going from car to car, shaking hands, etc.. probably gives his bodyguards nightmares. :)

Yeah, he's higher profile now than he used to be, but Amtrak knows him well. He rode the Washington-Wilmington train several times a week for a couple of decades when he was a high-profile member of the Senate and apparently never had the slightest problem with anyone. People like him. That doesn't eliminate the problem of some NRA stalker from Idaho buying a ticket, obviously, but I don't think Joe is the sort of person to hide in a bunker, whatever the situation.

Yeah, that was an interesting thread. One person found him on another site saying that he was looking for investment opportunities and that he had nearly $20,000 to put into the right venture. He came in and denied that it was him, despite having the same username and despite the amount of money being essentially identical. He then said that he'd be sending t-shirts off in late Feb/early March. When confronted about the actual charitable donations he was very evasive, and said that he didn't need to prove anything to anyone who was questioning his character, or something like that. Then when Balchinian posted photos of the thank you letters from the $6000 he donated himself at the same time, and asked why the scammer couldn't take 30 seconds to do the same because he must have received the thank you letters by then, that is when he said he was never coming back to Fark, and he bailed out.

So you dupes may see a t-shirt, but I wouldn't even count on that. I am 98% certain that not one penny of that money went to charity.

Welp, I'm convinced. Now I know never to click on a Townhall link, due to the fact that it's nothing but a reactionary neofascist arch-conservative racist whitebread cracker-loving cesspit of maggot-ridden decay.

And the best part? Obama won the white house AGAIN, and there is simply not one f*cking thing you neocon pricks can do about it. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA suck it

To be fair, a lot of conservatives aren't really all that disappointed with the way things are turning out. Many voted for Obama, counting on a strongly Republican Congress to simply gridlock the system as best they can for 4 years rather than risk electing someone as out of touch with reality as Romney. But yes, Townhall is exactly as you characterize it. Middle of the road hasn't been published in a decade. It doesn't sell ad space.

I am wondering that myself, the site is stagnant except for a few updates about T-shirts. Sure would like to see some proof that the money went to the charities promised.

Cant donate the money till shirts and wristbands are shipped. I have no clue how much it is going to cost to ship 300 packages.

The money is in an interest bearing savings account and all money (plus interest) will be donated after all expenses are paid.

As always if anyone has any questions they can email me. EIP.

Shirts should get to me within the next couple of weeks.

Care to bet on that?

As Ive said, I do not have letters from the charities as the money hasn't been donated. I need to pay the expenses of the rewards and shipping first. Once that is done then the remainder (plus interest earned) will be donated.

But I digress.
