Yea? Well they'll have to pry 'self gratification' from my cold dead hand.

Ah, "courtship." Where you just go to dinner a million times, get married, move in, and only then find out that one of you is a raging psycho. In the real world you "live in sin" for awhile to gauge how you'll make it as a married couple.

A fundamentalist is a fundamentalist. Groups like Focus on the Family have more in common with the Muslim Brotherhood than they do with the majority of modern, Western society.

As they get more and more focused on being anti-gay, they also get closer and closer to just needing to merge with the KKK.

Of course, at least the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt CLAIMS that they want a secular government. Focus on the Family and other right wing Christian groups (or even just right wing groups) are more extreme than the Muslim Brotherhood in that regard.

I would think your average Cheetos-stained basement dweller would be thrilled with the prospect of "courting" and prearranged marriage. The whole reason we even had the system in the place was to make sure the inbred bluebloods of yore could still marry despite their horrific physical deficiencies.

I have never bought a car without taking it for a test drive first, and I only expect those to last a few years.

FTFA: "If you date person after person, you're training yourself to leave someone when you aren't happy, which is the same motivation for most divorces."

Yeah, leaving an unhappy relationship is a really bad idea.  You should totally ride that shiat out.  You know, for Jesus.  It's what he would want.

I mean, it's all silly talk to me

It's true.  Never trust a religion with compulsory funny hat wearing.  That's really the only thing main stream Christianity has going for it.

On the other hand, the idea of outlawing masturbation must send a shock-wave of terror through the basement-dwelling set.

Fine, I'll test drive yours for a while then. Seriously, mind your own damn business. Teenagers have been doing the same things they're doing now for millenia, and we haven't self-destructed yet.

/sarcasm quotes because they are almost completely at odds with the actual teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, but instead are a tool of the Republican Party

Can we get a  counterpoint from WND contributors Ted Nugent and Pat Boone?

Oh, hot diggity, dog ziggity
Boom what you do to me
It's so new to me
What you do to me
Hot diggity, dog ziggity
Boom what you do to me
When you're holding me tight

Never dreamed anybody could kiss that a-way
Bring me bliss that away, what a kiss that a-way
What a wonderful feelin' to feel that a-way
Tell me where have you been all my life

I think the point is not that it is a new idea. In fact, it is a very old idea. The point is that people are still discussing this very old idea as a good idea today. It is quite obvious that it is old news, isn't it?

More precisely, I think the point is that every so often there's a "new wave" of people that try to make this particularly old idea seem cool, modern, timely, romantic, or what have you. It doesn't work.

I have never bought a car without taking it for a test drive first, and I only expect those to last a few years.

The main reason they oppose premarital sex is so you don't get that "test drive", and you have no idea what sex is really like and what it can be.  You "court" the person you will end up marrying, and so you have no idea that it's not normal that he only lasts 20 seconds.  Discouraging masturbation is actually part of this, too: that way, you don't get too used to having orgasms.

It's just incredibly farking creepy in so many ways.  They want to do all they can to keep people from experiencing sexual pleasure to prop up their failed model of what the family should be.

This works for me.  I have a 14 year old daughter and am thinking about buying a sports car.  The gut who owns a few businesses in town lost his wife a few years ago and I bet he would pay a pretty penny for a "help mate."

That's radical agnostic.

Secular humanism isn't religious at all, it's just the idea that we can put together a moral and ethical system without any higher power.

From the comments: "If it helps stop abortions and reduce divorces I'm all for it."

You know what else reduces abortions and divorce?  Things like real sex-ed, as opposed to this abstinence-only shiat that is trying to fight natural urges that teenagers have.  Things like "living in sin" so that you can get a realistic idea of what you're getting into.  Things like cheap/free access to birth control.  What political party does this person vote for?  What do they push in terms of policy relating to these issues?
