Hey, I don't disagree. Let's say some big beam of light did shine from the sky and start a fire, though... That's something that should be investigated.

But, yeah, my first thought was that it was far from some mysterious beam of light. Maybe it was just a giant magnifying glass. Or someone wearing hipster glasses.

Remember on Star Wars where some of the laser blasts didn't connect?

Some of those must eventually connect with something flammable.

Nah, those laser blasts usually dissipate after a while, since it's just a bunch of energy coincidentally moving in the same direction, so space dust/hydrogen/random gravitational forces would act to dissipate it.

The Fire Service says it will not investigate further.

Of course they won't. The government doesn't want people to know the truth about aliens.

Looks like it's from Star Trek Enterprise 9/11, where the Xindi faction of Al-Queda deploys their space based WMD of Imagination on the FFS*, thereby turning Nice Archer into Angry Archer, after which, he and his trusty sidekick Dubya Tripp go off to the Space of the Iraq, to make Relentless Freedom.

SFC: Spontaneous Field Combustion.

It's rarer than the human (SHC) form but there has been several recorded instances of SFC throughout history.
Many experts of SFC believes one of its first mentions is that of the biblical 'Burning Bush' of the Old Testament.

In more recent times, SFC has been seen in the Southern Yorkshire town of Bothamburp, England.

A field in Stockholm, Finland. A photo from 1952 with SFC experts investigating the phenomenon. They recorded the diameter of the area to be over 23ft.

In this extremely rare photo from 1998, a SFC event was captured for the very first time in progress.

The photographer, David Ellis, a teenager out photographing wild birds in North Hampshire, USA, is recorded as saying that the fire didn't seem hot. He said, 'It was like no fire I ever saw, man. The smoke I noticed first but I thought it was just kids getting high. Then I saw the flames but it felt cold. It was weird.'
