will nascar give us more racing than "cautions"?

From a post I saw on the Nationwide thread for the FFRL, you have until 3:09 EST to make your lineup changes for Phoenix. Your lineup is NOT locked in at the completion of qualifying. From what I noticed when I updated my roster, you are automatically linked to the results page for the previous race when you click on your team name, so you just have to click on the number race you want to update. Looks like you'll have up to about 30 minutes before the green flag drops before you're stuck with your previous week's lineup./FYI//and upon further review, I see I farked up the start time in the headline and put Pacific time instead of Eastern. Maybe a mod can help me out with that...///is not easy being a dee dee dee

That's it! That's why it was greenlit the night before! Plausible enough for me.

See ya in about 12 hours fans!

One more thing,

"coverage" starts at noon, race isn't on till like 3 -- so like all like minded individuals here, that's when the TV goes on!

I like doing the races via DVR, then watching it at 2x speed. The commentary is a little lacking but DAMN THOSE GUYS ARE GOING FAST!

Damn.   He's at his most dangerous when he thinks he has to prove something.  Picking off the entire field one by one is exactly the kind of twisted thing that motivates Kyle.

maybe a gearhead could help me out here.. what exactly is it about the Toyotas that make them so gremlin-prone?

NASCAR fan, but I'm the farthest thing from a gearhead.  Am I wrong in remembering that Toyota drastically changed their engines not too long ago?  Maybe they're all still getting used to them.

It isn't any one thing. In last week's 500 Kyle's and Truex's engines had valvetrain problems, while Kenseth's had a problem in the bottom end.

They're all designed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD).  If there's a flaw in one engine, it's present in all the engines.

TK didn't get into like the last third of the race and his power contracts weren't renewed from last year and for some reason D-A-M's efforts couldn't make up for it so we were running at about 25% efficiency

Ha.  paper said after qualifying Friday, your boy Smoke hopped onto his private helicopter, and flew down to Yuma, AZ to run a dirt track race, placing third.

so today, there are at least two SOBs in Yuma that won't STFU about how they ragdolled Smoke.

Kyle Busch engine failure was human error, TRD says. Someone made mistake putting it back together last night after changing valve springs.

@bobpockrass
Toyota says Denny Hamlin engine was valve spring issue. Kyle Busch engine was human error when changing valve springs.

It gives me plenty of time to get good and liquored up before the race... but at this rate, I may have to go out for a 6-pack to replace the 12-pack I picked up this morning.

I'm really looking forward to today's race thread. Not the race so much- I mean, it's Phoenix. But this will be a good thread.

GO JPM!

Maybe I can break into 3 digit point territory in the Farkers Racing league today.  I couldn't have done much worse than my picks last week.

I was in AZ last week and there was 6" of snow.  Now I hear it's 80 degrees and sunny.

They were good picks, just a bad week.  It's early yet...people will be shuffling around a lot.

I see the Speed shows Victory Lane and Wind Tunnel are now only 30 minutes each. I can see them cutting back on Victory Lane, but Wind Tunnel usually has more than enough subject matter to fill an hour.

If I had gone with Keselowski (my bench driver) instead of Smoke, I'd have about a 40-pt lead on everyone else in the league, but how was I to know he'd get collected up in someone else's wreck and end up finishing where he did.

The shorter Wind Tunnel shocked and angered me last week.

I get the feeling Kyle Petty is just trolling everyone with his race picks. Last week he picked Danica, this week it is Stenhouse.

I got 213 pts out of last week somehow.  Still not entirely sure.  Puts me in mid-pack after the 1st race of the season.

The Idols are specifically tuned to the 48's frequency.  However...there can be unintended side effects.
