So we're using "trolling" to refer to doing pretty much anything on the internet these days?

I remember when trolling was interesting and sophisticated, in the Adequacy, Slashdot and K5 era.  Somewhere along the way, the art of trolling devolved and fizzled out, it seems.  Where are the creative and hilarious minds of old?  Modded out of existence, bored with their success, or did they find something better to do with their talents than wasting time on message boards?  I have a feeling many are still lurking, but won't troll because the new internet doesn't deserve their awesomeness.  (Or won't fall for it anymore.)
