The new Pittsfield police cruisers also feature an LED lighting system that uses less power than standard police lights.

Umm...sure, but there's a lot of wasted battery power in a car anyway, what with a continuously running alternator and all. So it's not like they're saving gas or anything.

It's a difficult decision if you only have half a brain and a small dick. Cut them some slack.

The design phase wasn't just for the graphics. It was for selecting the vehicles, integrating new computer systems inside, new external lighting, redesigning the unibody, new seating... They should be praised that they did the job so quickly.

Don't those things come in a cop designed package that takes into account for all of the standard stuff that cops use?
Not being a smartass.
I thought that mfgr's have a cop package and that it is offered to muni's only for cops.

Don't forget to factor in small town politics.
I grew up a few towns south of Pittsfield and my dad was the Chief of Police of said Podunk hilltown (as those small towns call themselves) for 15ish years. Any time he needed to replace a cruiser it would be a matter if waiting until the next time the selectmen met, getting it in as a topic, waiting for them to approve it, write it in to the next year's budget, and wait.
After he was finally allowed to purchase a cruiser he would have to take the year old build out bids, get them redone with the newest equipment, wait for the next selectmen's meeting, get approval and, if he was lucky, get to actually place the order.
It was a process that took 3 years the first time he tried to get one replaced. After that he asked for it to be made a regular budget item every 4 years.
Small town politics is craptacular and as much as Pittsfield paints itself as a "real" city it is still full of goofy little people trying to prop up their illusions of grandeur.

Ah, and the extra large letters give it that rent-a-cop look of authoritay.
