What conceivable facts could have been left out that would somehow make the teacher in this story not a completely pants-wetting moron? Could the child have threatened a student with a half eaten pop tart which kinda, sorta looked like a gun? Yes, there two sides to every story, sure. But use some common sense here. What do you think is missing which changes the outcome or your reaction?

FTA: Josh, who suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

How long are we going to keep up this charade?
I don't think I've read an article in recent past that a kid hasn't been labled with autism, ADHD, COD whatever.
Why don't we just start calling the kid who's parents haven't sent them to a "behavioral specialist" and is being pumped daily with pharma cashcows, abnormal?

And any parent that starts biatching because their kid got caught up in some zero-tolerance bs needs to STFU! The people that are inacting these ZT rules were voted into those positions by parents who were crying "nothing matters more than the safety of our cbhildren".
Don't like your kid getting suspended over something stupid? Great, get off your lazyass and do something about it!

2013-03-02 08:24:03 PM
Oh sure! It is all fun and games until somebody gets their eye put out by a strawberry. I think the article clearly points out this kid a potential to be the type that ties two cats together by their tails, loop them over a clothes line, and then throw live frogs at them. Twisted little farker deserves preemptive discipline.

That is the point of zero tolerance.  Get 'em trained early to accept bullshiat arbitrary rules that you can't even begin to question because none are grounded in reality.  It also has the nice effect of rounding up all the free thinkers and getting them labeled as trouble makers and in the justice system early.

I don't how much money we dump into government run  education (Washington D.C. is a good example) it is not going to get better.  Yet there are those who insist that people not be allowed an alternative.

The left calls abortion a choice and some want tax dollars to made available for it yet using tax dollars for a choice in education is not to be allowed.

Oh, I didn't realize it was the lefties that considered teaching evolution a crime, promoted revisionist views of history, suggested carbon dating was a hoax, stopped the formal teaching of critical reasoning, etc., all in the name of indoctrinating the 'snowflakes' with Traditional Judeo-Christian Values (TM).  How silly of me to forget that those shenanigans were at the behest of 'lefties'.

Also, what is described in the article is beyond ridiculous.  We brought functional rifles (granted with blanks in the magazine) into school for Remembrance Day assemblies with absolutely no issue.  The majority of my fine arts projects were martial in nature.  And no one cared.  I'd say it's generational, but I graduated high school in '05...so, I will say this instead.  A system that allows for the suspension of a student for manipulating a pastry is beyond ridiculous.

GF named my left testicle thundercles: Dafatone: GF named my left testicle thundercles: little boys will turn anything into a gun. it is normal and healthy. this has become an attack on masculinity itself

Little boys WILL turn anything into a gun.

That being said, it's a little creepy to define this as "masculinity itself."

sorry dude, but men spent the last 200,000 years of human history, feeding their families, defending themselves, attacking competing groups, and being chosen to carry on their genetic legacy through the creation and employment of weapons. I dont know anything about you, but when i pick up a weapon it is an amazing experience. I can feel its weight.. its power... and it feels good. It feels like my body and mind have been specifically shaped to wield it. and that feeling is a perfect reflection of the truth.

I don't know whats more pathetic, the article or your post.

But the funny thing is, its probably the best example of why we are doomed as a species.

No matter how smart we get or how advanced we make things, you can't overcome 10 million years of evolution in a millennium.

As Tommy Lee Jones said so eloquently.... A  person is smart. People are dumb, frightened animals and you know it.

Ahhh, memory.  Such a wonderful and selective mechanism.  I agree 110% with you that the above is total bullshiat. And, yes, there has been a lot of it. But you perhaps don't remember --- or were lucky enough to not to be subjected to it.... or perhaps were actually one of those self-righteous lefty teachers? --- the actual, real philosophical/political indoctrination, starting around age 15-16 (I understand it now starts around age 4-5 or even in preschool). Had an English teacher in high school that would build lesson plans around the evils of Amerika and the Kapitalist system. Yeah, she was subtle, enough to not get called on it, but it was definitely there. Several other teachers in HS did similar. Regurgitate it back, or your grades suffered.

This, of course, went into high gear in college. College was, essentially, a Pavlovian lesson plan in "Get in LIne, Citizen" and spout the party line. Not so much in the business and engineering areas, but definitely in every single liberal arts course of study. (I will say, however, that the fairest prof ever had  -- who actually graded you better if you disagreed with him and could make a halfway decent argument to protect your position -- was an avowed Marxist. Most of the other profs were of the "useful idiot" variety. You either vomited back their politics or you failed the class.

I actually have a tentative theory, backed up very slightly and not conclusively (just hints, really) by some of the documents released by the Russians from the old old KGB files, that Lenin initiated a "cultural war" against the US back in the early 20's in response to our various attempts to support the Whites and bring down the Communist Party. That "war" had to be done on the cheap, since Russia was broke, and consisted of sending in a few sleeper agents to "shore up" and direct the philosophical destruction already being accomplished by people such as John Dewey.

Again, I agree. I remember, when I was 14, walking down a residential street to a friend's house, to go plinking in the hills. I was carrying a .22LR semi-automatic rifle (i.e.: today, an "assault rifle") and NO ONE gave a rat's ass.

The "zero tolerance" school environment really does have at least two huge purposes. (If you can find a copy, you should read Hannah Arendt's "On Bureaucracy." )

(1) It allows stupid people to function in a rule-enforcement environment. This reduces the cost by replacing more expensive "thinkers" with cheaper alternatives.

(2) As pointed out by several others here, it conditions the students at a very impressionable time in their lives to follow arbitrary rules. This will be a valuable social asset when they are adults, as it will give the social engineers who are now running our government (doesn't matter what party, I'm talking career bureaucrats) more latitude.

Hmmm...... instead of calling him names, why don't you offer a rational explanation as to why to two are NOT similar?

Tax dollars for abortion = personal choice = good.
Tax dollars for school vouchers = personal choice = bad.

I know that name calling is easier, but it really does make you look like a retard (which I'm sure you are not). How about giving a rational response, here?
