Side question, about all series:

Now that the new nascar.com absolutely completely sucks... anyone have a nice simple site that shows each race (especially the upcoming one) and links for practice 1, practice 2, lineup, results (when set)... like the old nascar.com did?

I use the NASCAR page at ESPN.com. It's fairly straightforward, easy to navigate.

I will just leave some tweets for your enjoyment

nascarcasm @nascarcasm

I sincerely hope other NNS drivers take it easy on young milquetoast @JimmieJohnson today. I mean, he's just there for the seat-time.

nascarcasm @nascarcasm

So drivers, if you see young @JimmieJohnson on grid today, introduce yourself to him. He hasn't run many NNS races. Give him some pointers.

With 43 cars entered, yesterday's session was a rare instance of Oprah-style qualifying: "Are you ready? EVERYONE GETS A STARTING SPOT!"

Doesn't seem to have today's lineup?

Never mind.  I'm an idiot.  They're qualifying right now.  I forgot that the Nationwide didn't qualify a day or two in advance.

I may be a little bit potato, but I can't update my picks on the Fark fantasy thing on Yahoo for tomorrows race.

As usual for Saturday races, I'm stuck at work. I've got the Rolex race at COTA set to record this afternoon.

Once they qualify, you're locked in with your picks (because you earn points for top qualifying spots,) so all you can do now is swap out your active/inactive picks.

OK. I guess I'll try to make a summer come back. Thanks. I really thought we could pick after qualifying. I was purposely waiting. Duh.

It's kinda confusing because that rule didn't apply for Daytona, since qualifying is such a long and drawn out process. But for the rest of the races, you want to have your picks in around Thursday. But that's also why you have your "starters" and "bench." I try to keep a couple generic good "all around" drivers on my bench in case I'm lazy or forget, so I can at least swap them in. (Which you can do any time after qualifying right until almost before the race starts.) This is particularly useful if you have a tendency to pick guys like Bayne or Martin who only run partial schedules. I got farked a few times last year by picking too many part-timers for my C-list drivers, then forgetting to have an active on the roster until after qualifying the next week.

You only earn points for your starters in the race, not your bench, so you should still at least be able to tweak your lineup among this smaller pool of drivers.

Dammit Gibbs. You just *had* to go put Kyle back in your cars instead of watching him humble himself in his own equipment. It's going to be 2010-2011 all over again.

Kyle youve done it again

Right as I say that, he gets pitfarked. Now this race goes from boring Kyle domination to hilarious Kyle-through-the-field.

Dumb-Ass-Monkey: what have I missed?

Early wreck where not-Danica and Pastrami wrecked, collecting Hornish and a couple others. Nelson Piquet Jr. taking the dog-leg shortcut, entering turn 3 at the wrong angle, and taking out Nemechek.

Early Kyle domination, then he missed his pitbox because NASCAR moved it back one for this season, and he sped anyways, so now he's working through. The rest has been other Gibbs domination, with Vickers then Kenseth leading.

I was refering to his sponsor. It's "Detroit Genuine Parts." (But it really just looks like it says "DETROIT" on it.)

So no caution when Kligerman pounds the wall and sends shrapnel everywhere, but Larson brushes the wall and they throw the yellow?

Hey man, after last week, NASCAR's probably going to throw a caution every time Larson sneezes.

Kyle Busch wins the Nationwide race at Phoenix. In related news, Lebron James won a dunking contest at The Shire against five Hobbits.

Well, if nothing else, it proves you can't win in the Nationwide Series, unless you outspend everyone like Gibbs does.

From what I've seen, lots of amusing encounters between the GT and DP cars in the esses at COTA. The DPs are having a hard time compromising between downforce and straightline speed, and some of them are going slower than the GT guys through the fiddly bits of the track.

And still came back and just about took the win.  That Bimmer has a lot of power; I wonder if it will have the same amount at Barber.
