That poor cancer has been infected with Hugo Chavez long enough. I hope its suffering ends soon.

Serious question about all this, I've been wondering since the news of his cancer broke.

Why is he going to Cuba for treatment?  I would be shocked that Cuba has better cancer doctors- or any medical stuff- than Venezuela.  I'd assume Venezuela isn't the best in the world, but are they really worse than Cuba?

He's going to join the faces on jokey hipster t-shirts?

Maybe he should come to America for treatment.

I think that is the ONLY thing Cuba does right is train doctors. They have a surplus of medical staff that they send around the world.

He's not even close to those other dictators in the headline.

Not stating what kind of cancer he has? Isn't it obvious? He's got Asshole Cancer.

Those guys were all far more valuable to corporate America than Chavez will ever be.

Was dude responsible for the death's of millions? Nah, he's hardly a footnote in the annals of dictatorship, but boy does he really piss American conservatives off.

Let's open a dead dictator pool, I'm calling dib's on 4:30 am Sunday morning, as even the sun can't stand to shine on that ass's face one day longer than it has to.

I'm not going to research to see if there are any better metrics, but Cuba's life expectancy is 78.5 (37th), Venezuela's is 73.73 (80th)

The US is pretty much the only country that has an embargo against Cuba. They are not as back woods as a lot of people think they are.

Cuba may not have the best doctors in the world, but they have the best in the third world.

More of an amusement really. Except that whole theft of Exxon assets, I find him to be a clown. I fully expect the Che Brigade to re-write his accomplishments in glowing terms then repeat those lies so often they believe them. It's not like it hasn't happened before.

Is that a serious question? Cuba is known for the quality of their medical care and amount of trained doctors.

Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the U.S. and it has programs in place to train U.S. medical students.

So yes, Cuba has better medical care than Venezuela, and in some respects better care than the United States.

You should have, because the USA is at 77.97 or 40th (pronounced "first" in American English).

perhaps it's that conservatives don't know anything about Citizens Energy Corporation or going over to a neighbors home to split wood for the elderly or disabled.

There's so much derp around Chavez, coming from both left and right, that it's ridiculous.  The right wants to make him into South America's New Hitler, and he's definitely not that.  But there are people on the left who want to praise and canonize him, and he's just done too much troubling stuff to limit freedom of expression and the press to really be a hero either.  His legacy will be very, very complicated.

I agree.  I was in Venezuela during the last presidential 'election'.  But he hasn't started any wars and he hasn't pursued any genocidal policies.

Subby, why is the elected president of Venezuela in the same category as those mass murderers? Because his country has oil and he won't let Bush's cronies have it?

They have a different definition of "live birth" than the US, that causes many deaths to not be included and make their figures look a lot better.

I see you, Joe Kennedy.  Three generations of self-aggrandizing, addiction-prone, Nazi-sympathizing, pocket-lining limousine liberals is enough.  Uphold the final element of your family tradition.

Uuumm......ok.

Cuba is one of many countries that has a different definition of what constitutes a "live birth."  The United States counts any baby exhibiting any signs of life as a live birth.  In France, Czech Republic, Ireland and Holland it has to be over 22 weeks and 500gm before it is counted.  The United States also counts premature babies who die before their due date but many other countries do not.  Many countries also report deaths in the first 24 hours of life as still births rather than infant deaths.  In the US they would be counted as infant deaths.

In the U.S. your life expectancy can drop by 10 years because you're not white.

Or even Noriega.  I'd rate him a bit worse than Berlusconi though.  In any case, he's a ridiculous popinjay who's not worth 10% of the villification and paranoia the GOP and Foxs spewed over him.

Dude's on his fourth line of chemo, 4 surgeries. This is stage IV of the recalcitrant variety.
How long he will live depends on which tumor he has.
