FlashHarry: who the fark would buy such a thing? seriously.

I'd question more whether it was actually Amazon or just someone who made a Marketplace store.  Much like how so many people are all "OMG DAILY KOS/REDSTATE SAYS _____!!1!" when it's actually a comment from some random individual in the forums.

i'm guessing you're right. though they should probably vet stuff before they allow it to be sold under their name. i'm no fan of censorship, but if i were amazon, i wouldn't let that sort of stuff sully my brand name.

I tend to agree, but it would be like suggesting Google should censor their results for a search.  I'm not a fan of censorship under any terms, even when the material is goddamned heinous.  From a business perspective, I totally agree with you.

i'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to be purchased. i just think, from a business standpoint, it doesn't make sense for amazon to sell them. now selling them on www.imafarkingdouchebag.com, i have no problem with.

Spencer's sells shirts that say things like "this is my weed shirt" with a picture of a joint on them.  I think i saw one that said "Hit her in the sh*tter" once that had the symbols for a man, a woman, and a toilet.

People like shirts they can't wear in public I guess.

Of course that is a legal occupation. Rape and domestic abuse isn't legal.

Those t-shirts are disgusting. But I see this is still available for sale on Amazon:

ecx.images-amazon.com

It's clearly much milder, but where do you draw the line?

True, but I was just talking about taste in clothing and what kind of person would wear something like that.

This truculent thread suddenly reminds me I haven't been to the People of Wal-Mart website in several months.  Those cretins will wear anything, twerk while riding in shopping carts, etc.etc.

I assume these only come in XXL and up. If my memory of high school is correct, dirt bag teenagers who wear offensive shirts never buy ones that fit close to correctly.

The shirt was created and sold by "Solid Gold Bomb Company."  Amazon was just its ecommerce platform.

FTA:  the scripted programming process that created the slogan was compiled by "only one member of our staff"

Something like the Shakespearean Insult Generator, apparently.  Job-killing automation.

I dunno, you'd be surprised at the sort of things people wear in public.
Certain people just think its funny and don't realize that they're basically wearing a big sign that says "I'm a classless douchebag".

That was a direct quote from Amazon's review page they were showing. You're not allowed to edit direct quotes from printed sources.

They could be verbatim quotes: don't know about the first outraged being, but Lord Prescott is an appalling oik and probably did tweet that phrase.

Didn't read TFA.
Does anyone remember the Dave Allen "Rape & plunder" sketch?

Oh, and the way Amazon's "marketplace" system works, there are literally hundreds of thousands of doofuses selling their crap on Amazon. Amazon cannot possibly be expected to catch every shops crappy little item that slips under the radar. That's why there's a system where customers can report offensive things. Which is what happened, and Amazon removed the offending item.

2013-03-02 02:43:31 PM
The word "Keep" makes quite the assumption.

It was supposed to read "Keep Calm and Legitimate Rape A Lot". Big market for that BS.

I haven't been so annoyed since they made a "Welcome to Soviet Canuckistan" T-shirt and left out the "Soviet". Joke fails without the "Soviet".

And what was that crap on the back? I can't wear it with that crap!

The Keep Calm parodies have been scraping the bottom of the barrel for quite some time. People have already thought of most if not all of the good ones.

No one said they didn't have the right to sell it.
But actions have consequences. And Amazon probably doesn't care enough about the shirt or the vendor to deal with the repercussions.

Yes.  This storefront was definitely asking for it.  I mean who walks around a Marketplace at all hours dressed in such revealing, inappropriate attire?

Shameful.  Absolutely shameful.

Strangely enough, Amazon is not the United States government, and can refuse to sell or allow to be sold through their Marketplace any damned thing they'd like.
