My money's on more Chelsea embarrassment today. Too bad we don't have an early match today: have to wait for the 3:00 games

Isn't that every day?

The main problem with no early game is that I have more time to think about my FFPL picks. If experience has taught me anything, it's that the more I think, the worse I do.

I hear you brother. My greatest wobble was when I found myself over-thinking it so I now have a two-minute rule for the whole set. One of those minutes goes to the Banker chip.

Of course, that hurry has sometimes led me to cheer on results which I haven't picked, and scowl over ones I have...

I'd be interested to know who has scored the most banker points over the season.

Afternoon all. I'm writing to you from the other side; I committed suicide this week after watching my beloved Berbagod do the Harlem Shake. It's kinda cool here. Sir Alex is still in charge of everything. I went for a few pints with George Best. I also saw Abe Vigoda, Mindy McCready, and Liverpool's dignity.

Arsenal came through in the clutch for me last week, I have to say. But I picked Spurs in the derby, with insurance.

I picked City for my banker this week. I forgot to bring my other laptop home again so only one game can be watched at a time. Think I'll be watching United.

Yesterday was unofficial St. Patty's day here on campus. Literally the entire campus drank all day. I started at 1 and I was several hours behind the majority of campus. Drank until about 10PM when my body could sustain me no longer and I passed out until just now (8AM).

Thankfully not hung over, but I haven't eaten since lunch yesterday. I think french toast is in order.

Not so sure about Liverpool. Sturridge is out until next week, and Liverpool don't look as good without him. The good thing is we've now got Coutinho, so we have two real wingers in the side to pair with Suarez up top, but Wigan have been doing the business as of late. Something in my head just tells me that this is a trap game.

Real Madrid v Barcelona (1500 GMT)

BBC Sport's Spanish football writer Andy West: "As expected, Jose Mourinho has made several changes to rest his star players ahead of Tuesday's trip to Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira are among those left out, with rare starting opportunities for Kaka, Luka Modric, Michael Essien and young striker Alvaro Morata. Barca are missing Xavi with a thigh problem makes him doubtful for the Champions' League return leg against AC Milan in 10 days. His place goes to youngster Thiago Alcantara."

Looks like Real aren't even going to try.

Norwich tend to do well against the top teams but will line up deep and defensive so if you don't have a dog in the fight then West Brom/Chelsea will be more entertaining.

Your FFPL report for Round 27

farm9.staticflickr.com

A fairly healthy set of scores this week as results conform to generic expectation.

Kcostell fails to provide me with any entertainment, dropping a further  75 points behind. Big week for Obamartins - transfers to Major League Fitba and is almost back in second place with a respectable 120.

We're not talking about the bottom as gentlemen don't talk about the bottoms of ladies.

30/30 continues Operation Asymptote and was the only player to lose points this week.

Wynswrld top-scorer with a robust 150, with Obamartins in second and mitchcumstein1 and I in joint-third with 110. Mitch fastest climber, up 4. Multiple players down 2 slots.

StRalphTheLiar retains Presidency of the Banker Bonus club, keeping out ADubs86 on ranking. Nathanjr, Scouserduck, mitch and juicepats pillars of the BB establishment.

12 of us have made it into the 1000+ club with several more within spitting distance. Juicepats crawls onto Page 1, with cptrios and HawaiiE dropping down onto Page 2.

After today, ten games/rounds left.

On the one hand, the supporters' favorite son RDM got sacked, so whoever was coming in next was going to be hated. Add the fact that Rafa made some pretty unsavory comments about them while he was at 'pool just adds to the fire, so I understand their frustration.

That said, no one man is bigger than the club. Even if you don't like the man, support the club. Booing the team does nothing positive. Roman is the one in charge, you want to take out full page ads in the paper against him, do it. But come gameday, support your side.

After enough weeks of issues, I FINALLY just managed to log into the FFPL. I see that I've maintained 15th despite my absence. I had enough time to pick  games, so laught at this:

Tottenham 1 - 0 Arsenal
Villa 1 - 1 Man City

Alright all, I have created a FARK MLS Fantasy league. Scoring will start in round 2 so you don't have to worry about this week and can just use it to practice.  Head to  http://www.mlssoccer.com and you'll have to create an account or log in with some social media account (I used twitter). Once you do that, just click on fantasy or head here:  http://fantasy.mlssoccer.com/ and you can join the league using the code below. My email is in my profile if you need any help and the name of the league is FARK Fitba.

If I was a betting man, I'd go 2-1 Barca in that game. AC have made Lopez their biatch the last time they played him. Granted, they also had Thiago Silva at the time.

It was like watching Stoke without the thuggery

It would of been nice to have a go but we went on that massive unbeaten run so can't omplain too much. Staying in the league is the primary objective.

HaywoodJablonski: Bale is the runaway favorite

If Bale can keep his form up, than yes, I can see him winning it. But Michu has kept a team that people were writing off a relegation fodder to mid table in his first year in the league. In my eyes, it has to be him.

Forgot his red in the league has no standing with UEFA (Or I'm just too drunk right now). Either way, still favor AC to advance. Milan haven't looked like scoring 3 against anyone in the last weeks much less AC, who will probably be parking the bus.

On the one hand, yes it's a 4 goal lead, we got it done and dusted. On the other hand, we aren't that likely to have this kind of advantage against Spurs next week or Chelsea in a month, so we need to have the back line shored up now.

Either that or the PTB are just buying time to exit stage left and hand that mess to whoever takes over at FIFA.

Not sure how I'd feel about it if this were the case. On one hand: we enter the arms race with a vengeance: signing big names again; silverware. On the other: We're not winning the "right" way, so no more moral superiority.

Once you do that, just click on fantasy or head here:  http://fantasy.mlssoccer.com/ and you can join the league using the code below. My email is in my profile if you need any help and the name of the league is FARK Fitba.

And that is why the insurance always goes on Arsenal. Even the draw is unlikely now.

I kind of want Adebayor to score, just to see if he does the sliding celebration in front of the Arsenal fans again.
Now that Balotelli's gone, I need the release of having an absolute douchebag celebration.

But the FSC people are right. Arsenal's defense is shambolic.

I hope this news about a bid made on Arsenal by a consortium from the Middle East is true. Oh man I hope this is true. There's no reason Kroenke and the rest shouldn't accept their offer, either. They get double return on their investment, which is what they're here for anyway. Please let it be true.

Yes, Spurs fans were chanting "Arsene, we want you to stay," and Arsenal fans sang back "he's won more than you."

He's good value for money, but we should be spending more money. Fabregas and/or Song should never have left

I don't think there was any way Arsenal was keeping Fabregas from going back to Barca.

And I have no issue with Song leaving, especially for the money they got for him. What I have issue with is not then taking that money and reinvesting it.

Exactly my point. Nothing against Arteta, but he's in a string of above-average talent we've had to settle for

Absolutely agreed, which is why I hope that Middle Eastern consortium news is true and has legs. I want to be able to buy players, ffs. But for now, I'm happy with players like Arteta. If we had 11 players like him, we'd be way better off than we are now.

I agree with you, but in my mind, Aretata is exactly the type of player you need in your squad. Older, a calming influence, a professional, and a leader.

I'm sure Arsenal would have figured something out last year without him.  But it did seem that they started playing a lot better once he got there.  He really stabilized a difficult situation.

I feel the same way. Fabregas was going regardless. As much as he loved Arsenal, the lure of his boyhood club was too much. And Song was the last player being represented by agent Darren Dein, all of whom left Arsenal after prolonged, distracting sagas in the media. I'm quite sure that would have been the case for Song as well.

Draws looking very common in our mix. Bankers present about 40% of the time.

One of my favourite meta-FFPL game is looking at other people's predictions and wondering What the Hell Where You Thinking? The other meta-game of course is What the Hell was I Thinking

Looks like Dembele twisted his ankle or knee pretty good there.

Probably 4-5 minutes added. Anything's possible.

Huge Spurs win and 30 points for the predos. Great day! April is going to be hellish for Spurs with Everton, Chelsea and City back to back to back. Chelsea is the lone away match in that set though. Spurs also have Inter, Liverpool, Inter back to back to back now as well which is going to suck. Going to be a tough end to the season, but hopefully they can hold on to a champs league spot and possibly finish above Arsenal.

I'm intrigued by the prospect of winning again, but it feels like a cheap way to do it. I've never cared for the way Chelsea and City have paid so much for players, and I actually like the concept of a strong youth academy. But I think the wage structure needs to be blown up and Arsene needs to be more realistic about player valuation.

2013-03-03 03:52:28 PM
Bale continues to score when he wants, good guys move seven points clear of the bad guys, and I nailed the predo. Not bad at all.

Had I known that Aguero wouldn't be in the lineup, I would have triple-thought my banker. Too late now, or course. Still think City can pull it out in the end, too much to lose as far as title implications go to drop points now.

/mathematically, they're still in it

Hard luck to Villa but you cannot goof up against anyone at this stage, let alone Tevez.

Really need City to get a second here.

I had 3-1 to City, so an extra goal would have given me 5 more points, but at least this helps me crack into the 1000 Club--finally

And that's the end of a good weekend. Villa need at least 4pts from Reading and QPR or they're toast.

They can get it from Reading. I'm not sure which QPR team will show up, though.

Observations from today:
1) Villa are down and,
2) City aren't challenging for the title anymore.

Same here on both counts. Thought I'd never hit the 1000 point mark, yet here I am. Good thing my last minute banker switch worked out for me.
