Working in shifts, surviving on biscuits and sleeping when he could inside the radiation-proofed bunker, Mr Yoshizawa lost weight and grew a beard.

But he still looked radiant.

"Fukushima Fifty" sounds better than "Sayonara Seventy".

I am one of the Hurricane Sandy Seventy. We are the ones who rushed to the hardware store and bought expensive Honda generators but did not need them. We are easily recognized by our new, unused generators and gas cans. Out children are taunted at school and our wives complain about the unnecessary purchase of a generator. Still, we go on knowing in our hearts we did the right thing.

miniflea: Ivo Shandor: yagottabefarkinkiddinme: Seafood in the Pacific is radioactive. Great job.

Fukushima made it worse, but the oceans have been radioactive for a long time (not even counting the naturally occurring isotopes). Mostly from a few decades of above-ground weapons testing.

Nuclear testing time-lapse video.  I'm not sure how many of these are atmospheric versus underground, but I had no idea there were so many.  Some amusing derp in the comments too.

Anything after 1963 was underground testing

Supracentral: Mr Yoshizawa is shadowed throughout his interviews by a PR minder

And therefore not a single word in the article can be trusted...

Makes me wonder what would have happened during the interview, had the guy said something he wasn't supposed to.

"And then a baby godzilla appeared from one of our reactors....choke! strangle! *sub-dermal shock collar*I...I.. Mean during the chaos we saw this amazing glow, and for a moment we thought we saw an angelic figure,"
