Fukushima made it worse, but the oceans have been radioactive for a long time (not even counting the naturally occurring isotopes). Mostly from a few decades of above-ground weapons testing.

As opposed to it being 50X worse if they hadn't jumped in? Sure. All i see there are slightly above average readings.

Anyone else find it funny that the article is equally focussed on trying to blame a natural disaster on the management of Tepco as it is on exposing the "heroics" of the workers?

And I know the name is Fukushima Fifty.  But a few posters don't seem to be actually reading the article.
