Oh yeah? Well, my choice of consumer electronic device is better than your choice of consumer electronic device!

Plus, you suck.

Every other country slapped Apple down, but the US is a country where flipping a bit on a phone you own so you can use it on the carrier you want is a jailable offense, so I guess it's no surprise.

Is it really a surprise? Americans aren't that bright. Between Apple conning people to waste money on gadgets and Google selling all of your private information to the highest bidder, there's a reason you're in a free fall.

As someone who defines himself by what brand product he use this is either really good or really bad news. I won't know for sure until the tech websites tell me which one makes me seem cool.

All dose violations.

Is it remotely feasible for a newcomer to enter the smartphone market without being drowned in the amount of patents they'd have to license?

Nope.  Just like you couldn't make a car or any other technically complex system with standard parts without running into the patent wall.

But patents exist to protect...something...

Oh yes, multinational corporate interests...

I like the taste of iFan tears. They are sweeter than Neo-Conservative tears. Samsung should patent and bottle it.
