Jesus H. Farking Christ, time to round up the Bronies, furries and Steampunks cover them all in honey and tie them down on ant hills before this thing gets out of control.

What a perfectly craptastic piece of writing. That'll teach me to expect quality copy from a half-donkey. Next time: in "lue" of an entire article, just use pictures with thought balloons and speech bubbles.

Since we're picking apart this "article", can I just point out "...spend you a tale..."? SPEND? Really? Are they sure they don't want to SPIN a tale? Just another example, I suppose, depicting the intelligence of "bronys"....or lack thereof. If they really are looking to colonize Mars, I say we send THESE d-bags first.....

Wow, what's with all the Brony hate?  They're guys who like a show--no different than Trekkies, Browncoats, or Farscape fans.  Hell, with the renewal of the 4th season, MLP will have been on longer than most fandom shows.

Because it's not as manly and heterosexual as Wrasslin' or Foozeball.

That said, Las Pegasis Unicon was an utter disaster. What happened to the people there was vile. The admins basically skipped town when the money was gone, and dropped off the face of the earth.

Yeah, this is hopefully the death knell for everyone trying to do their own convention. The fandom really only needs maybe two or three at most, and this way we can focus resources on people we know aren't scam artists. It's bad enough when anyone running any major convention does is, but it's particularly despicable when it's entirely being put on by fans and not professional organizations.

I will say that even though the events that screwed everyone over sucked, I was really impressed that so many people have contributed to assistance funds to try and help out the people that ended up owing money.

/probably will never go to a con

A million TV shows and movies about how you just gotta be you depicting the zany antics of one weirdo in a stuffy small town tricked us into thinking that scales up to a society where everyone is pippi longstocking/Cosmo Kramer/robin Williams.

Apparently there is a freak flag quotient beyond which the falcon cannot hear the falconer, the center cannot hold, mere anarchy is loosed upon the world and the blood-dimmed tide is loosed.

Actually, 8 - 14, but who's counting when you're wrong. The reason it attracted the adult crowd so much was not because they wanted to see something that was meant to entertain "Five year old girls", but because Lauren Faust attached her name to it. Those of us who grew up in the 90s consider her, and her husband a pretty big deal for creating almost every successful cartoon of that era..

Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, and Animaniacs weren't created to entertain adults either. Despite the fact they pride themselves on being able to do so. It's called Parental Bonus Material, and Getting crap past the censors.

/because five year olds get entertained about jokes on homosexuality and fingerbanging prince.

Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, and Animaniacs never create a subculture to make club of.

Besides, sci-fi fans get made fun of all the time, they just don't scream "hate" and wet their diapies everytime someone yells "Boo".

Not to mention the lack of a sense of humor and really thin skin, makes ruffling your feathers that much more fun.

I'd be weirded out as an animator on that show, knowing that while I was drawing some random pony on a cell of animation that someone was doing the same on a wacom tablet, only their pony has a vagina, and also has that dragon lodged up their anus.

I doubt there's much actual brony hate, just trolling.  You can tell by the rhetoric they use, it almost exclusively focuses on masculinity, immaturity, pedophilia - accusations that easily rile people up.  "The show you like is bad!" doesn't evoke the same response from fans as "Watching that show makes you a kiddy-diddler."  It's 101-level trolling, and is something all new fandoms go through.

Short Story: Convention over extended itself big time, had hoped many people would come, at least 2,000 and only got 1,000. VAs pissed off, people who were promised comp'd hotel rooms suddenly getting their credit cards raped, and of course the fallout that it will cause in general in this community.

So much for Brony Fandom.

StrangeQ: Sports were originally intended for children?

Nope, but most of the ones we watch on TV today (baseball, basketball, football and hockey) are a huge part of childhood for most children and college kids, your knowledge of BCE sporting events notwithstanding. Sports are one of the few things you can do organized as an 8 year old and get paid to do when you are 30. This country is all about reliving childhood, it ain't just the cartoons and video games.

I, however would love to see a return of the Gladiatorial Games and some of the events at the original Greek Olympics, specifically Pankration. Not to mention, a proper Ulama game would be a hell of a thing to see.

Mmm... I've seen some people who were serious. They're stupid, but they were serious.

/The funniest and saddest I've seen was comic book fans insulting bronies.  COMIC BOOK FANS. The group that the entire world sees as virginal, middle-aged neckbearded fat men who live in their mother's basements and are too dumb to read real books so they read picture books about pre-pubescent or teenaged boys in spandex and/or booty shorts are giving shiat to people who like cartoon ponies. I didn't know whether to shiat or wind my watch over the hypocrisy of it all.
