Where the hell did they find 11 non-internet addicted teenagers?  Amish country?

Me thinks this is not the best forum to be talking about Internet Addiction...

The only thing similar is the hysteria.

Didn`t have the patience to read all that. I`ll just grab the overview when it`s on IO9. In the meantime I have a facebook to check, a blog to write, a site to update and then it will be time to check FARK mainpage again.

Glad MySpace went down the plug or I wouldn`t have time to eat.

Marcus Aurelius: The only thing similar is the hysteria.

This.

Addiction is about much more than speed of formed associations. Stop comparing things to heroin ffs.

Brain scans done seperately by anthropologists Helen Fischer and Owen Lovejoy show that orgasms are neucochemically equivalent to cocain and heroin highs.

Therefore, I suggest that "internet addiction" is actually "porn addiction."

/wish I had studies in school that involved being mid-coitus
//nope, just hearing tests and other boring stuff

Preview is for pussies who aren't on mobile.

Should be "neurochemically equivalent" of course.

Actually it should be "neurochemically similar".

Well, this means that we're probably going to start hearing whining shrews demanding that the Internet be banned because "it's just like heroin, think of the children, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"

Hopefully that is just a synopsis.  Otherwise, it is one of the most poorly written research articles I have ever seen.  1 or 2 sentences per section.  Anyway, this study proves nothing.  First, there was a grand total of 23 subjects.  Very little statistical power with such a small n.  Second, they made no attempt to match the groups on other variables.

Anybody want to be that shopping addiction or religious addiction will show the same results?

Maybe we should stop blaming the source and focus on the addict.
