You know, this makes the second person to tell my trash bags shouldn't be used as toys by my children.

Stop trying to tell me how to parent!

So.... Making some clothes out of garbage can liners and store receipts for my nephew is a bad idea then?

I mean, he just loves the crinkly plasticy-papery sound it makes. But he does wheeze a lot. Hmmmmm.

Scientists: there is a link between early childhood exposure to bisphenol A and higher asthma risk.

Yep, bis phenol A. BPA. The oligarchical collectivist police state has been using this toxin against the sheeple for some time now. Along with other combinatorial agents.

if children wanted fresh air they should have been born 200 years ago.

You know what also give kids respiratory problems? Hyper sanitation snowflake treatment. They need to play in the mud, and touch gross things, and get sick, etc.

Farmed and ranched for many years.  Only snowflakes I met fell from the sky.  Lots of those, though.

Mom used to grind up both of these in her famous meatloaf.

Little did we know....

THere's plenty of kids with allergies to stuff who grew up on farms, in the country. Pollen, mold, penicillin, etc. but people like to think in stereotypes of like "LOL only the little nerdy Cohen boy from the big city with the overprotective mommy has any allergies".

Agree;  naturally occurring allergens.  Didn't state my point well:  Asthma, adhd, add, bipolar, etc. are the "diagnosis of the month" which provide ample opportunity for fraud, deceit, thievery by Pharma, Med. profession, medical industry in general.  I have allergies, will probably die from being stung by a honeybee (wasps ok), but refuse to pay $150 for a pen with a 45 day exp. date.  fark em;  grow up.  Gonna die from something.

Not sure where you get your meds from, but those should have at least a year on them, and it isn't like they'll be unusable after that year date either .

BPA exposure during the third trimester of pregnancy was inversely associated with risk of wheeze at age 5, the study found

..............................

In other words, a heavy concentration of BPA lessens my snowflake's asthmatic symptoms.

Hurray for BPA!

/That is some fine scientific research, Sven!

$150?  45 days?

You can try to get the ana-kit ( Anaphylaxis Emergency Kit), should cost less then half the price of an epi-pen, available cheap in Canada.   Drawback is that if somebody else has to inject you, it's not as easy to administer as an epi-pen.

And never pay for anything, just steal it to avoid receipts.

A pretty good summary, somewhat sensationalist. (I'll presume most of us don't have acounts to the journals involved, NPR is pretty good most of the time). My standpoint is backed by animal studies, a lot of unreliable 1st hand experience, and quite a bit of population level research. I've never read through any respiratory-specific research because that's not my thing, but the pattern is established and it would make sense.

Also, I never said anything about "all city kids have allergies" or anything to the effect. I simply pointed out that hyper-snowflake syndrome tends to fark kids up. The fact that you all think knowing a kid who grew up on a farm and still has allergies is a refute against solid population studies is just stupid.

By all means though, zip lock your children up tight if you want to think it will make them safer. Maybe over medicate them too, I hear its the latest trend.
