(Huffington Post)   Your porn collection is stolen. That's bad. But porn companies say they'll replace it. That's good. But then your wife gets fired for talking about it on a TV show. That's bad   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 68

Last week, welder Earlie Johnson had his $7,500 porn collection taken from his home in Muskegon, Mich., after burglars broke in through the backdoor.

This leads me to believe they must have robbed that house specifically for the porn...

"I was let go before I went on the show because they said I didn't meet the job requirements."

That's an excuse that Johnson isn't buying.

"How did she meet the requirements to get the job and then not meet them after she was hired?" he asked.

Happened to me last October. I'd been with the company 5 1/2  years(Would have been 6 at the end of January), and in my current position for about 4 of those years. Suddenly, my boss comes into town and tells me that I no longer meet the requirements for the position. No option to train up, and I had been denied tuition reimbursement about 2 years before. It happens. In my position, I think they were going for more of a network admin at my local office.

For about 30 seconds I was thinking the story was that the porn companies rescinded their offer to the dude after his wife went on TV (and gave them free pub), and I was confused as hell.

Then I realized she got fired.

I suppose that's bad, too.

The next steps are clearly for them to make a porn video together to begin to 'make ends meet' (no pun intended, could also be the title), and then for some enterprising moviemaker to make an R-rated comedy about the making of said porn movie, and then for Vivid to make a meta porn spoof about the R-rated comedy about the homemade porn movie that was made to make up for the loss of the collection.

Starring Sasha Grey, Jenna Haze and Maria Ozawa in various roles.

Calvinism is the belief in predestined salvation - only a preselect few are saved. The rest of us are going to Hell because fark you, that's why. If you're saved, it doesn't matter what you do, because you'll still be saved. If you're not saved, it doesn't matter what you do, because you're still going to Hell. So why are Calvinists always such busybody prudes?

Funny. A friend of mine insists on always calling her husband "boyfriend".

My cousin works for a company that recently was purchased by the Mormon church. I just hope they don't find out she's a lesbian.

I had a science teacher that liked to tell people that he was having an affair with his first wife and his second wife was cool with it.  He married the same woman twice.

She wanted to be paid for appearing on Jimmy Kimmel? Well, she should have, I don't know, maybe--asked to be paid for it--BEFORE giving it up?

Now she is looking for work; I know what line of work she shouldn't get into: whoring.

Well, I agree, but if you need to structure an employee leaving and you want to make sure they qualify for unemployment, you create a reason for them leaving that isn't an outright firing.  If you're fired for cause, you can't get unemployment.

Mikey1969: It was the weirdest thing ever, my ex-boss even sent me a 'How's everything working out?' email at New Year's...

If I had to guess - they had someone else they wanted to give your job to, so they worked out a new requirement you couldn't possibly meet.  Then when they let you go you were eligible for unemployment and they weren't on the hook for a lawsuit.  Sadly, it's not a rare method for swapping out employees, even in non right-to-work states.

Governments will use another similar method, called "Reduction in Force" to justify getting rid of employees.  It's the same procedure with a twist:  they will eliminate an existing job or jobs because they aren't needed anymore, then create a new position to replace it but with different requirements.  It will be the same job, but the person that held the old one has absolutely no chance of getting the new one.

We kind of thought the same thing... Everybody at the old job got the impression that my replacement knew the boss.

Staffa Kar Therma: $7500 dollar porn collection? So they don't have the internet if Michigan?

Perhaps it would make more sense if we rewrote the headline slightly.

Your $500 porn collection is stolen. That's bad. But porn companies say they'll replace all $1,500 worth. That's good. But then your wife gets fired for talking about the $7,500 collection on a TV show. That's bad

Make more sense now?
