Actually from what I'm hearing Sam is really happy with the new one.  If anything the new one probably gave him some ideas to revisit it, not to mention the fact that "the classic" makes an appearance in the new one...  parked behind the cabin, as if it's been there for years abandoned.

Overrated?  I kinda thought it was UNDERrated!  it was a great little movie that I don't think got enough attention!

Seems audiences today can't handle "horror" movies that aren't "found footage" or "quick edit, screech sound effect, jump cut" type schlock!

Plus Alison Loman was super cute!

The only thing I didn't like about that movie was JUstin Long

I thought Bruce said 'no way in hell' to any more of these. Or is it going to not have him?

I...can't remember watching these. I had a huge man-crush on Bruce and I swear I watched at least 1 or 2, but how many were there in the normal run? 3 right? What's the comment up there about 'the new remake'? I'm just tired and confused right now I think. They made a remake of...which one? And now Raimi's writing a 4th one?

For some reason I thought that was Radha Mitchell in that. Guess I'm not the only one who gets those two mixed up, though.

Sam is just trolling because he gets asked so much.
He does that every few years. Says he's doing it next, says that he's going to write it.

I don't think it is going to happen.
Though, I would love it to.
If you get asked the same question hundreds of times,
Would you rather constantly disappoint or give people hope?

I thought it was pretty bad. The only way it could be good was to watch it through an anorexic/bulimic's lense. From what I remember most of the terror came from her fear of food. I don't know if it was intensional but from what I remember, it was interesting to wonder if it was actually happening or just eating disorder delusions.

Drag Me To Hell's ending was so far telegraphed, I saw it coming after about 15 minutes in I think.  After that it was a yawn fest.

I would have changed the ending.

** SPOILER **

Instead of Justin Long giving her back the evelope with the button just in time for her to be Dragged To Hell, he should have just said "by the way, you gave me a button, not that coin" and that's when the Lamia appears and Drags Him to Hell while she watches on in horror.

This is not based on anything against Justin Long. I just think it would have been a bit more poetic to have ended the movie instead of that shot of Long with a "WTF just happened?" look on his face but with a "what have I done?" expression on Lohman's.

I don't agree, because in the end she would have been happy it was him, not her.  She spent the whole movie trying to NOT get dragged to Hell so that was the best thing!  That no matter what she did, it didn't matter!

And although I would like to see Justin Long get dragged to Hell, I just didn't want to see it in that movie.

(I actually don't HATE him, I think it's his hair.  He had weird, awkward teenager hair in every movie and he's like 56 now or something!  Basically I see him as his Dodgeball character in EVERY movie)

That's because AoD sucked.  It was like someone took Evil Dead 2 (the best movie ever made period) and threw it into a bucket of Xena and Hercules.

And yes, I know why it looked that way.  Knowing doesn't make it suck less.

They were all remakes.  Even the first Evil Dead was a remake of a different movie (In the Woods?  Something like that)

Evil Dead ended with Ash standing in a field and the camera (demon view) slams into him, black screen roll credits.  ED2 retold the story of the first movie, with fewer characters, up to that point, and then we see Ash kinda half-demonzed, then he falls over, wakes up un-demoned in a puddle, etc.  Movie ends with Ash being hailed as a hero in medieval England.

Army of Darkness begins with Ash being chained as an enemy in medieval England, with a simple voice-over retelling how he got there.  Then some BS happens, there's some stupid love story, and then it turns out Ash is just some loser in a supermarket who has to work with Joxter all day.  Freakin' Joxter.

Which was back to the present, when he was back at the S-Mart telling his tale. You're thinking of the alternate ending where he oversleeps and wakes up in the future. That ending sucked.

And that's beauty of it. She succeeds in not being dragged to Hell, but at the expense of having her fiancee taking her place. You really think she would be happy living the rest of her days knowing that her the love of her life will burn in Hell throughout eternity? Not to mention the awkward conversation she's going to have with her no longer future inlaws.

Although for that ending to truly work, she would not have backed out of giving her backstabbing co-worker what she thought was the envelope with the button. That and killing her cat earlier would have shown that she was capable of true evil in order to get out of the curse. So even the she "wins" in that she doesn't get dragged to the literal Hell, she will suffer in her own personal hell knowing that the one innocent person in the whole scenario is the one who pays the ultimate price for her sins.

Continuity is only loosely followed in the ED movies.

The only continuity is that any movie Sam Raimi makes will have a chainsaw (remember the medical chainsaw from that Spider Man movie?) and the Olds.

I completely, utterly disagree! The "wakes up in the future" ending set up a concept that could be a great sequel in a Mad Max type of way. Instead the "goes back to work at S-Mart" ending, with deadites attacking him from nowhere, made no sense and was just an excuse for a bunch of one-liners. I couldn't believe they went with that lameness when the other ending had so much potential and was way creepier. They went for comedy instead, I guess.

Disagree. The only thing people would care about was the most irritating character in the movie was killed. As far as Im concerned it would have been a happy ending.

I can count on less than two hands the number of movies I couldn't finish watching in my 44 years, and The Evil Dead and The Princess Bride are two of them.

I guess the trolling part was knowing that if I mentioned it on Fark I would get the responses that I did, but that's how I really feel.

For the record, I prefer the "I slept too long" ending. The S-mart ending was weird. After all that, why the hell would Ash go back to working at a department store? Yes, it's a badass ending, but it's silly.

The other ending fits the general theme of the series: Ash always gets screwed over in the end.
