Why is it rich people just add diamonds to something to make it expensive rather than sponsoring craftsman to make something with some aesthetic? What happened to rich people supporting actual art?

Someone needs to tell the nouveau riche that more isn't always better.

Christ, the rich really do have terrible taste.
It's like all the things that make sense are already taken by the peasants and their whole "rationality" thing.

So much  this. You can glue diamonds to a Big Mac and have a $10,000 sandwich -- but it won't even taste as good as a freakin' Big Mac.

ongbok: BumpInTheNight: lilplatinum: PC LOAD LETTER: None of those are endangered species, but, depending on how the animal was harvested, it may have only been used for the pelts/skin/scales/etc, which is severely irresponsible. Use the whole animal or let it live.

Who gives a shiat, none of those animals are particularly useful.

Whatever do you mean?  Stingrays are awesome for tourism!

I love the two older women off the side in that picture. You can just hear them laughing and saying "Young biatches"

But anyway, there is a lot of jealousy being thrown around in this thread.

The point of owning that crap is to generate jealousy among people who can't afford it.  Lots of people get a great deal of satisfaction from knowing that they're the object of jealousy.

Jack_Knopf: Wealthy liberals crack me up. They are so conflicted.

People should be conflicted. There is no greater evil on this planet than the man who is 100% sure of himself.
Indeed, evil people share one universal characteristic - they think life is simple, and they've got it ALL figured out.

Great Janitor: New business venture: stupid jewel encrusted crap for rich people to buy.  First product: glue cheap ass rhinestones and cubic zarconians to a pair of Walmart brand sneakers and charge $13,000.

Thats an old buisness venture, and you can already buy those shoes at walmart for $70

This is why the BeDazzler exists, so poor people can make crap look "classy"

See, you got that "winning the lottery" thinking going on, instead of trying to make a windfall from a rich person, you need to be trying to nickel and dime a bunch of poor people instead. It's a much more sustainable proposition

DubyaHater: Another article attempting to generate disdain towards the wealthy. So she has a pair of ugly sneakers that would cost me two months salary. There's no reason to get angry about what the shoes are made of though. I have couches, shoes and belts made from cow hide.  As long as the animals aren't endangered species, there's no reason to be angry. Some people have enough money to eat for the week while others have enough money to buy $3 million watches. Life is a biatch sometimes.

Yah, because making use of surplus of cow parts is directly equal to dismantling genuinely rare animals to satisfy one's poor taste in fashion.

You'd have thought that if they could put all those expensive materials in then they could also pay a designer to make something that doesn't look shiat.

What they don't tell you is that those toddler trainers were made from real toddler skins.

Bob Down: The Man Who Laughs:Must be what the british call a soother.  It's for a baby to suck on.

It's what the rest of the English-speaking world calls a soother, not just Britain.

Ironic in a way.

Except for the countries that call it a pacifier. I had never even seen the terms dummy or soother used for it before today.
